One of the new shows we’re most excited for this Fall is Fox’s Broadchurch remake Gracepoint. Today, a 3-minute trailer was released.
Gracepoint’s trailer was one of several Fox released today for their upcoming slate of new shows, which were previewed during their Upfront presentation Monday afternoon.
This first look will feel quite similar to those of you who’ve watched Broadchurch, which aired on BBC America last year. There are several scenes that are exact copies of the original, from dialogue to visual appearance. Tennant stars in both versions of the show as Detective Emmett, though for Fox he’s put on an American accent.
Gunn, who’s best known for her role as Walter White’s wife Skyler on Breaking Bad, plays the role of Detective Ellie Miller.
Although Gracepoint has a very similar storyline, appearance, and set of characters, Fox says that the criminal will be someone different than who it was on Broadchurch.
As mentioned above, Fox released a slew of trailers today. Check out several others below.
Mulaney is being billed as a Seinfeld for a new generation, and after seeing the trailer you’ll definitely notice similarities. Being fans of the latter show, we wouldn’t be against a new spin on the concept for a younger generation, but it may be an impossibly high bar to cross:
Utopia is an interesting reality show in which the contestants create their own sort of nation from the ground up and live in it for a year. They write their own laws and appoint a leader to lead the “Utopia.” The revolution will clearly be televised:
Wayward Pines is a “10-episode thriller starring Academy Award nominee Matt Dillon (Crash) as a Secret Service agent on a mission to find two missing federal agents in the bucolic town of Wayward Pines, ID. Every step closer to the truth makes him question if he will ever get out of Wayward Pines alive.” Like Gracepoint, it’s being billed as a special event (which is drawing comparisons to HBO’s successful anthology True Detective).
Backstrom stars Office alum Rainn Wilson, whose character is “an unhealthy, offensive, irascible — albeit brilliant — detective who is brought back from exile to run the Portland Police Bureau’s Special Crimes Unit (S.C.U.).”
Finally, Empire stars Terrence Howard as the “head of a music empire whose three sons and ex-wife all battle for his throne.”
Which of these shows will you be watching in 2014-2015?
Fox announced this Fall 2014 schedule bright and early this morning. Check it out in our previous report.
