J.K. Rowling took to Twitter in the wee hours of the morning to note that it has been 16 years since the Battle of Hogwarts. She also interacted with readers.
The legendary fight ultimately pitted Harry Potter versus Lord Voldemort in Deathly Hallows. Many people – both good and bad – were lost during the battle, including beloved characters Tonks and Lupin, and infamous ones like Bellatrix and He Who Should Not Be Named.
The Harry Potter author wrote a tweet in which she briefly opened up about writing the battle:
It's the 16th anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts. I'm having a moment's silence over my keyboard. I hated killing some of those people.

The tweet received tens of thousands of retweets and favorites as longtime Potterheads thought back to when they read the book in July 2007 or watched the film in July 2011.
When a user asked the author jokingly to take back a death, Rowling offered her a special opportunity:
@NikkiYw That really made me laugh. But who should we re-animate?

Shockingly, the Twitter user has yet to name someone Rowling should revive.
In a second response to a reader, Rowling explained why sometimes people die in books:
@loganslegolas Well, Graham Greene said that writers need a chip of ice in their heart. That's how we make our readers' hearts bleed.

Rowling, who was once a very, very quiet user, has been a slightly more active Twitterer over the past couple of months. Not only has she tweeted about Pottermore and sporting events, but she also replied to a fan on Twitter who had a very specific question:
@HarmonicalHero Diamonds, of course. Because that's what Hufflepuffs are (some a little rougher than others). X
