Fox has announced that Anna Paquin’s character Rogue will appear in X-Men: Days of Future Past, despite director Bryan Singer revealing that Rogue’s scene had been cut from the film.
X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer released a statement back in December that Anna Paquin’s character had been cut from the final film during the editing process.
Fans were a bit upset that a character which was vital to the franchise’s plot in the past had been cut entirely. More surprising was that her role was so small.
The director had said, “Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous. It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go.”
It felt almost ironic that a character which had been with the X-Men franchise since the beginning was getting the axe considering Singer had stuffed nearly every single mutant that’s ever existed in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
It was previously revealed that Anna Paquin, who is much more popular now due to her role on HBO’s True Blood, apparently only had one scene in the film. That was surprising enough, but hearing that she was cut from the film entirely had some fans up in arms.
Now according to a rep from Fox her scene, which they say is “more of a cameo,” has been put back in the film. This reveal may have come out due to the fact that her name appeared in the credits of X-Men: Days of Future Past’s final trailer which premiered last night on Conan.
We’re glad to hear that fans will get a chance to see one of their favorite mutants in X-Men: Days of Future Past, even if it’s just a cameo.
We imagine a lot of the characters from the original X-Men films will have cameos and it’s nice to know Rogue won’t be missing anymore.
