The striking cover art has been revealed for the new young adult fantasy series The Young Elites by Marie Lu.
Marie Lu definitely doesn’t waste any time. Though Champion – the conclusion to her best-selling Legend trilogy – was released in November, the young adult author already has a new series in the pipeline.
Lu’s new fantasy series, titled The Young Elites, will kick off in the fall of this year. The cover art for the novel was revealed today on USA Today.
Set in a world of plagues and politics, magic and machinations, The Young Elites by Marie Lu will follow a scarred young woman named Adelina. Abandoned by her family after surviving a terrible illness, Adelina finds a place in the secret society of young and powerful people, who – presumably – use their abilities to help those in need. But other forces view the Young Elites as dangerous, and Adelina finds herself caught in the role of spark to a conflagration beyond her control.
“[The story] chronicles a good person’s downfall into becoming a villain,” Lu told USA Today. “I think this cover conveys that beautifully… I’m in love with it.”

I study the scarred, eyeless side of my face. Then I pick up my hair brush and smash the mirror into a thousand pieces.
