Saying his words were taken out of context, Percy Jackson star Logan Lerman says Percy Jackson: The Titan’s Curse isn’t completely off the table.
Last week, we passed along news that the third Percy Jackson film was probably not going to happen. However, in a new interview with The Independent, Lerman stated that his words were taken out of context when he said another Percy Jackson movie wouldn’t be happening.
“I said I don’t know,” Lerman clarifies. “I’ve never heard anything and it’s been a while since the second one was released, so I just haven’t heard anything about a third film. Unless they call me I think it’s unlikely.”
This definitely doesn’t confirm another Percy Jackson movie is being made, but at least for those fans who are hopeful for a third film, it’s still a possibility.
“If we want to make a third one I have to do it,” Lerman says. “I’m contractually obligated to three movies. I love those movies, they’re a lot of fun to make.”
Lerman goes on to say that one of the reasons why he stated that to begin with was because even he, as the star of the film, hasn’t heard anything about another followup: “I would be surprised at this point [if they did call me] because usually you want to make them pretty quickly.”
However, considering there were three years between Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, Titan’s Curse still seems to be within the realm of possibility. Lerman even jokes that he’d be willing to play Percy even if he were 30 years old.
Considering Lerman is currently 22, perhaps we’ll have another eight years of Percy Jackson speculation before we can officially say the Lerman-led film franchise is dead in the water.
