A new clip from Scandal season 3, episode 15 offers our best look yet at the Grant children as they sit down for a very awkward family meal.
In the scene, Fitz is trying to make conversation with his two elder children Jerry and Karen, but they’re refusing to be friendly towards him. He thanks them for “coming down” from school so they can take part in an interview for his election campaign.
The question is, why are they not being nice to their father? Does it have to do with rumors about his infidelity? Is it because they’re peeved that they only see their parents when they’re needed for an election campaign? And if we really want to squabble: Why isn’t their youngest son Teddy near the table?
Some fans are hoping that the kids will soon learn that Jerry Jr. was actually fathered by Fitz’s father, Jerry Sr., who we learned raped Mellie around the time the son was conceived. This too could be why the kids are quiet at the dinner.
In another clip which we shared earlier this week, Mellie asks Olivia to cancel the family interview for an unknown reason. Perhaps she made the request after seeing how badly they interact with one another at dinner. Remember, we still don’t know why all this awkwardness is happening to begin with.
Scandal season 3, episode 15 “Mama Said Knock You Out” airs Thursday, March 27 at 10 p.m. eastern/pacific on ABC. See photos from the episode in our previous report.
