Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson stars in the first Hercules: The Thracian War trailer.
In the second Hercules film to hit theaters in the last year (Kellan Lutz was in the previous one), Johnson is seen in the first trailer from Hercules: The Thracian War. Watch the new trailer below via Paramount Pictures:
Production began on Hercules in June of 2013 in Budapest, Hungary. Director Brett Ratner has reportedly been developing the project for the last few years and has focused much of his energy on it since wrapping 2011’s Tower Heist.
The graphic novel the film is based on paints Hercules as more of a mercenary than a god. There are no supernatural elements in the novels, which are penned by comic writer Steve Moore and take place after the hero’s fabled 12 labors.
Johnson, who has had a top 10 movie at the box office for the past 16 weekends, is coming off the success of Fast & Furious 6, which will see a follow-up in 2014.
Johnson has been taking on some better projects in the last few years, but this looks like he’s headed back down The Scorpion King road. Let us know if you’re interested in seeing Johnson in the latest Hercules film.
Hercules: The Thracian War, starring Dwayne Johnson, John Hurt, Ian McShane, and Joseph Fiennes, is set to open on July 25, 2014.
