The American Horror Story news keeps pouring in following the announcement of season 4′s title. Find out who is coming back for season 4 and where we will find them below!

More details for American Horror Story season 4 follows Ryan Murphy’s news that the show will be titled Freak Show. Entertainment Weekly reports a few key details about the first of two settings for the show and reveal Jessica Lange’s role in the mix of characters.

Where are we?

The 1950′s portion of the show will find our favorites in the humid city of Jupiter, Florida. As expected, Jessica Lange will act as ring leader to a group of misfits as she tries anything to save one of the final freak shows in the United States. So what about that German accent? Well it looks as though Jessica Lange will also have a past as an ex-German pat.

Who’s around?

Jessica Lange’s group of freaks is certainly not lacking in numbers when it comes to returning favorites. Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Evan Peters AND Francis Conroy are all expected to turn up as “unusuals” under Lange’s control. Other stars are still in talks to return, but Emma Roberts and Dennis O’Hare are expected to make a comeback as well.

Notably missing from the role-call are Taissa Farmiga, Gabourey Sidibe, Lily Rabe, and Jamie Brewer. Once again, however, Murphy and company have already put together a rather impressive female-driven cast.

Earlier today, the title for series was revealed via Ryan Murphy’s Twitter account. The potential that rests in a freak show setting for a horror driven series is endless. Let’s hope the writers take care to narrow their focus enough to make something truly unforgettable. They are not lacking in the talent department, that is for sure, and they have 13 episodes to prove they know how to use it!

Be sure to check back as more American Horror Story casting announcements are made and further details are added!

Who are you excited to see back on ‘American Horror Story’ Freak Show?

Why do I feel like Lange’s past will have something to do with the Nazis in the Second World War? possibly a former concentration camp guard? That would be interesting…

    • Alfie Adams

Maybe bring in Dr. Arden? I don’t want them to start linking the series, but could be cool to have little references suggesting it’s in the same universe

    • alexa

that was my first thought (as im sure it was everyone else’s)… but didn’t Aslyum already have a thing with a Nazis war doctor? hope they aren’t jumping the shark

    • Matty Marie

Or an “entertainer” for them….like Sister Jude…

I live 20 min south of Jupiter, FL. Any news on open casting calls? (That is, assuming they will in fact be filming in town.)

Happy with everyone returning but will be sad if Lily Rabe doesn’t end up joining. So far, she’s played my favourite character in every season (haven’t seen Murder House yet). Hopefully she signs on and gets a bigger role than Misty had

    • Matty Marie

She didn’t really play a big role until the end in Murder House.

I WANT PICTURES!! I’m very excited for this season of AHS. I agree with the article when they say hopefully it won’t get too broad. I’ve found that to be Ryan Murphy’s weakness. He needs to chill out and focus on one, maybe two story lines and make them awesome.

taissa farminga pleeease! that was the worst part of Asylum- she wasn’t in it!!

    • Matty Marie

TBH, I don’t think Taissa has much range as an actress. Violet and Zoe were basically the same person.

I just hope Ryan Murphy stays off Twitter this season, plans all the episodes in advance, and doesn’t divert. Who knows what greatness we would’ve gotten from Coven if it hadn’t veered off into “who’s the Supreme”, sassy scene chewing nonsense.

  • Colin

Call me Negative Ned, but I’ve got to say that it’s hard for me to see the point in the anthology format for the show, changing the characters and setting every season, and focusing and a different set of social issues and horror themes, when every season has ended up feeling so tonally similar to the others. If Jessica Lange is always playing a miserable bitchy woman with sass for days, and is the central character each time with a cast of loosely characterized, underdeveloped oddballs surrounding her, is it really that different a show year after year? I suppose an argument could be made for the necessity to keep a certain level of consistency, since each season obviously falls under the “American Horror Story” brand name, but yeesh… talk about sticking to what’s worked in the past.

    • Matty Marie

I kinda agree. Jessica has essentially played the same character every season with the difference either being an accent, name, or supernatural powers. And I feel that since she is leaving, Angela will replace her in the role of HBIC and this season have the same character but with a deformity.

-Waits patiently for Alexandra Breckenridge to be casted-

  • jkredwine

Oh no, no Lily Rabe!? She’s been one of the most consistent performers. Hate to lose her.

I also get the idea of a freak show on its last legs, but I still think the dust bowl would’ve been a much better choice for setting.

ETA: i know Carviale already did it, but it’s not as if Murphy has ever shied away from the stereotypical and the expected.

  • Toma

That sounds more promising, I like the setting better. Coven was a bit disappointing, especially compared to Asylum.
