The first week of season 6’s battle rounds kicks off tonight on The Voice, and the coaches will be joined by their celebrity mentors to help prepare contestants for their first competitive performances.
The fun part of season 6 is over (who are we kidding, it’s all fun on The Voice), and now it’s time for the coaches to start cutting down their teams in preparation for the live rounds.
The first step is the battle rounds, which pair two contestants from the same team to perform a duet. After the performance, their coach has to choose which artist is the winner, and gets to stay on his or her team. But all hope is not lost for those contestants that lose their battle, as each coach is allowed two steals to nab some contestants they may have lost out on in the blinds.
The battle rounds will also welcome season 6’s celebrity mentors. As we’ve previously reported, Shakira cleverly chose Blake’s wife Miranda Lambert to help mentor her contestants. Blake chose country superstars The Band Perry, Usher chose singer/actress Jill Scott, and Adam chose hit artist Aloe Blacc. It’s always good to get an extra opinion and an extra set of ears to help mentor the contestants.
As it stands after the blind auditions, these are the teams on The Voice season 6:
Team Adam
Sam Behymer, Delvin Choice, Caleb Elder, Austin Ellis, Christina Grimmie, Dawn & Hawkes, Joshua Howard, Josh Kaufman, Cary Laine, Josh Murley, Kat Perkins, and Patrick Thomson.
Here we get a sneak peak at some of Team Adam’s battles this week. It looks like some of the pairings we will see are Josh Kaufman versus Austin Ellis, Kat Perkins versus Patrick Thomson, and Delvin Choice versus Caleb Elder. Aloe Blacc seems to settle in nicely as a mentor, and it looks like Adam will have some tough choices to make.
Team Shakira
Ddendyl, Emily B., Music Box, Jeremy Briggs, Lindsay Bruce, Deja Hall, Kristen Merlin, Cierra Mickens, Dani Moz, Lindsay Pagano, Clarissa Serna, and DeShawn Washington.
Take a look at a sneak peak of some of Team Shakira’s battles this week. The coach has invited Miranda Lambert to help mentor her team as part of her “master plan” to beat Blake. It looks like Cierra Mickens will battle Emily B., DeShawn Washington will battle Dani Moz, and Jeremy Briggs will battle Clarissa Serna.
Team Blake
Alaska and Maddie, Paula DeAnda, Ria Eaton, Kaleigh Glanton, Sisaundra Lewis, Noah Lis, Lexi Luca, Ryan Whyte Maloney, Audra McLaughlin, Megan Ruger, Cali Tucker, and Jake Worthington.
Team Blake’s battles will see Jake Worthington versus Lexi Luca, Alaska and Maddie versus Audra McLaughlin, and Paula DeAnda versus Sisaundra Lewis. The Band Perry is basically three mentors for the price of one, and it will be great to see what they have to bring to the table to help the contestants.
Team Usher
Jake Barker, Tess Boyer, Brittnee Camelle, Biff Gore, Tanner James, Melissa Jimenez, Stevie Jo, Bria Kelly, Madilyn Paige, Brothers Walker, Morgan Wallen, and T.J. Wilkins.
Usher brought in Jill Scott to help mentor his team, not only because of the talent and she brings to the table, but also because he felt it would be helpful to get a little bit of a female perspective. The battles will pair Jake Barker and Stevie Jo, Brittnee Camelle and Melissa Jimenez, and Biff Gore and T.J. Wilkins.
