The Hunger Games: Catching Fire deleted scenes surfaced on YouTube recently.
When combined, the five Catching Fire deleted scenes run 4 1/2 minutes in length. Although we’ve shared two of them before, the three new ones feature President Snow (Donald Sutherland), Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman), and Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence).
In one, President Snow and Plutarch Heavensbee have an extended conversation in the former’s office about the jabberjay. In another featuring only Plutarch, we see the Head Gamemaker go into a room and switch the instructions for the 75th Annual Hunger Games. He burns the previous set of instructions which may hint at where his loyalties lie.
While we’re not sure the conversation about the jabberjays should’ve been cut, we do see why Plutarch’s scene alone was. This clip offers a clue into what he’s up to and it may’ve been too big of a hint or too confusing. The only clue viewers received in the final cut of the movie was when Katniss sees the mockingjay in his watch. Those who haven’t read the book were in for a big surprise at the end.
Production wise, the five deleted scenes all look nearly complete save for one green screen in the background during Katniss and Peeta’s arrival at the train station.
The scenes can be found on the Catching Fire DVD and Blu-ray which was released last Friday. A handful of midnight events were held across the country, and supporting actors and actresses attended them to sign autographs and take pictures with attendees.
With Catching Fire now out of the way, all eyes can now turn to Mockingjay – Part 1 opening this November.
