Last night Girls star Lena Dunham hosted SNL for the first time along with musical guest The National. A couple of famous surprise guests also showed up! Check out this recap of last night’s fun episode.

Lena Dunham opened her debut SNL monologue spoofing the fact that her show Girls focuses a lot of its plot lines on sex and extreme nudity. Some of the SNL cast members had some questions for her, being that Lena is nude a lot throughout the series. In the first sketch of the night, Lena Dunham spoofed the hit show Scandal by calling out the absurdities that take place on the show. Lena played a young girl who is part of the team but can’t believe how fast everything gets done on Olivia Pope’s team:
In the “What’s Poppin” sketch, Lena Dunham, Cecily Strong, Tim O’Brien and Aidy Bryant play a very uninteresting hip-hop group on an otherwise intense hip-hop show.

In what seems like the millionth teenage girl web show-turned-sketch, Nasim Pedrad and Lena Dunham played high school girls with weird guests. This time, the sketch featured a guest appearance by Mad Men’s Jon Hamm himself:
During Weekend Update with the newly established Colin Jost, Fred Armisen (now part of Late Night with Seth Meyers) joined the show as Vladimir Putin’s best friend with Vanessa Bayer. Check it out below:

It was announced during last night’s episode of SNL that the show would return live on March 29 with host Louis CK. There was no mention of who would be the musical guest.
