With two weeks to go until Party Central enters theaters with Muppets Most Wanted, the short film’s poster and a new clip have been released.
The Monsters University short film – in which Mike and Sulley attempt to throw the greatest party the school has ever hosted for their brothers in Oozma Kaapa – will run before the Muppets sequel in theaters March 21.
Check out a new clip from the film below in which we see Mike and Sulley making preparations, and we also get a glimpse of the event itself:
The poster shows the party in action, with Mike front and center as he and his friends rage.
The story within Party Central is actually one that Pixar wanted to use in Monsters University, but it wasn’t included last summer because they couldn’t find a place for it to fit. Says Kelsey Mann, the short film’s writer and director to Fandango, “The first thing the Oozma Kappas says when you meet them is, ‘Welcome to party central! We haven’t had a party here yet, but when we do, we’ll be ready!’ I wanted to see them throw their party! … We couldn’t find a real, natural place to do it in the movie, but the idea of the short came up, so now we get to see them throw their big, massive, monster party.”
Party Central is the latest in a long line of short films Disney traditionally releases in front of their various films. For example, Pixar has produced numerous Toy Story short films in recent years.
