The first four episode titles from Game of Thrones season 4 have been revealed, providing a tantalizing hint at early developments in the new season.
HBO has provided further evidence today that winter is indeed coming, Winter Is Coming reports. The network’s Latino branch has revealed the titles and running times of the first four episodes of Game of Thrones season 4, which will hit the small screen in just over a month.
The titles released are quite evocative of the brooding atmosphere of Game of Thrones season 4. Episode 1 will be titled “Two Swords,” and will run for 58 minutes. Episode 2, “The Lion and the Rose” – presumably referring to the long-awaited wedding of King Joffery and Margaery Tyrell – will run for 52 minutes. The title of episode 3, “Breaker of Chains,” (56 minutes) almost certainly refers to Daenerys’ rule in the former slave city of Meereen. Meanwhile, episode 4, “Oathkeeper,” (54 minutes) likely links back to episode 1, for reasons which we will not spoil here.
As in previous seasons, Game of Thrones season 4 will include 10 episodes. This season will continue the story told in A Storm of Swords, the third book in the epic A Song of Ice and Fire series by George RR Martin. Elements from later books in the series may be included as well.
HBO has been hard at work teasing Game of Thrones season 4 for devoted viewers. Two full trailers have already been released, as well as promotional stills and ominous character posters. The official marketing poster for Game of Thrones season 4 was released on Friday, hinting that the new season may be as mythical as it will be epic.
Game of Thrones season 4 will premiere on April 6 at 9:00 p.m. on HBO.
