Not much has been revealed about Magic Mike 2, but actor Matt Bomer says he plans to be back.
Currently, the only thing we really know about Magic Mike 2 is that it will exist. Regardless, Matt Bomer, a supporting actor from the 2012 released Magic Mike, talks as if he’ll be back, or at least as if he thinks he’ll be back.
“I trust Channing and [co-writer] Reid [Carolin] implicitly, and I’m along for the ride however they’ll have me, Bomer told Vulture. “I think everything’s pretty under wraps right now, so I’ll just wait to hear from them.”
It doesn’t sound as if Bomer knows for a fact that he’ll be back, but it doesn’t sound like he has any reason to believe he won’t be, either.
Bomer also said that he’s hard at work brainstorming ideas for his character’s look. “I’ve had a lot of time to ponder it. I can’t drop anything now. But I’ve been thinking about it, for sure. Maybe there will be a themed Ken Doll. Why not?” His character is named Ken, so that would be really funny.
Channing Tatum just announced on Sunday that he had begun writing the Magic Mike 2 script. He tweeted this picture of him with a bust of Matthew McConaughey’s character Dallas:
What better way to start writing #MagicMike2 than with my old friend Dallas? #runatribe pic.twitter.com/RalS3nQfro

Rumors have floated around for a while that Tatum might direct the Magic Mike sequel himself, but they’ve never been officially confirmed nor denied. Regardless, his co-star Alex Pettyfer thinks he could do it.
“Channing is such a talented man. I don’t need to say that, everyone one knows that,” Pettyfer told HitFix. “He’s a smart business man. He’ll do whatever he thinks is necessary for the film.”
Still, Tatum has said he won’t be doing it, at least right away.
“Reid and I aren’t idiots!” he told Vulture back in 2012. “We’re not going to direct our first movie as a sequel to a Steven Soderbergh movie. That’s not smart,” said Tatum. “I want to start with something very small … make a lot of mistakes, make them real early, and then go jump in [on Magic Mike 2].”
