A major romantic milestone was reached tonight on The Big Bang Theory season 7, episode 15! Check out our recap and share your thoughts on “The Locomotive Manipulation”!
The plan
At the start of The Big Bang Theory season 7, episode 15, Amy and Sheldon take stock of their relationship. Amy pitches Sheldon on spending Valentine’s weekend in Napa Valley with Howard and Bernadette; Sheldon refuses, until Amy says that they will be traveling to Napa on a vintage train.
And sold.
When the gang has dinner, Penny and Leonard announce their plans to spend Valentine’s Day at home. Raj asks them if they can watch his dog Cinnamon while he uses the high-powered telescope at the University.
‘And your little dog too!’
On Valentine’s Day, Leonard and Penny exchange gifts and head to the bedroom to have sex. Afterward, they realize that Cinnamon has eaten the chocolates Penny gave Leonard, and rush her to the vet.
Raj arrives at the vet, furious and desperate to help Cinnamon. He chews Penny and Leonard out for their carelessness, but he cheers up after the (cute, female) vet lets him come see Cinnamon. Cinnamon is fine.
Back at home, Raj discovers that the vet, Yvette, has given him her number. She says he made her Valentine’s Day. Hopefully Raj won’t wreck this, but our fingers aren’t exactly crossed.
Switching tracks
Sheldon is awed by the train, pestering their waiter with questions about the train coupler. Their meal is interrupted by a fellow train enthusiast at the next table. Sheldon moves over to his table, where they share oral impressions of trains.
It’s really weird.
Amy is miserable, wondering why she even tries with Sheldon. Bernadette scolds Sheldon, but he brings the crazy train guy over to eat with them. They continue to talk enthusiastically about train stuff, and traipse off to see the engine room. Amy is depressed, Howard is drunk, and Bernadette is taking credit for everything. They kiss in front of Amy and have to apologize.
After Sheldon comes back, Amy tells Howard, Bernadette, and the train guy to buzz off. Sheldon thinks she’s being rude, as the train trip was meant to be fun for both of them. Annoyed, he starts to pantomime romance for Amy, gulping down wine and starting a staring contest. “Oh, kissing’s romantic!” he snaps, pressing his lips to hers…
And holding them there.
Sheldon straightens up, moving closer to Amy. Slowly, they deepen their first real kiss.
When they resurface, Sheldon softly invites Amy to come back to the conductor’s car, and she comes along.
A close race
Back at home, Leonard is shocked and pleased to hear about the kiss, though Sheldon can’t say whether that milestone, meeting the train guy, or the nine-fingered conductor playing the banjo, was the best part.
But we think we know.
