Last night Melissa McCarthy hosted SNL with musical guest Imagine Dragons. It also marked Seth Meyers’ final show before he leaves the late night comedy show to take over hosting Late Night. Check out a recap of what went down on the very special episode.
Last night Melissa McCarthy hosted SNL for the third time. She opened the show with a gigantic musical number spoofing Peyton Manning and the Super Bowl. The cold open included singing by her, Taran Killam, Kenan Thompson and Aidy Bryant just to name a few. Check out the outlandish, over-the-top opening here:
Melissa then took the stage in her opening monologue to show she can do some fantastic wire work as she floated above the audience in a kung-fu style fight with cast member Bobby Moynihan. Check out her amazing opening monologue:
Last night’s episode also marked the last time Seth Meyers would report at the Weekend Update desk. Over the years, Meyers had brought some hilarious jokes to the weekly segment and hosted alongside Amy Poehler and recently Cecily Strong. During last night’s final moment before he goes on to host Late Night, Amy Poehler, Andy Samberg and now-classic character Stefon returned to the Weekend Update desk to bid Seth farewell. The emotions ran heavy for everyone involved in the send-off, but didn’t lack in its humor either. Check out the special last moment with Seth below:
Seth Meyers ended his run on Weekend Update saying, “This is the job I always wanted and I had the best time.”
Last night Imagine Dragons put on two spectacular performances. Check out “Demons” and “Radioactive” below:
Saturday Night Live returns on March 1, but no host or musical guest has been formally announced. This month, NBC will take over coverage of the 2014 Sochi Olympics, which derails the usual SNL schedule.
