Reports suggest that the Fantastic Four reboot’s script has been finished and actors will be testing for roles before the end of the month.
While writer Simon Kinberg was recently brought on to partially rewrite the script for the Fantastic Four reboot, it seems Fox is ready to start meeting with lead actors.
Variety reported back in October that Kit Harington, Jack O’Connell, Kate Mara, Saoirse Ronan, and Miles Teller would be testing for roles in the reboot. Harington, O’Connell, and Teller are testing for the role of Reed Richards, while Ronan and Kate Mara are testing for the role of Susan Storm.
It seems the actors will be doing tests with each other soon, and then we should be hearing casting announcements within the next two weeks.
Michael B. Jordan has all but locked up the role of Johnny Storm (The Human Torch), and it’s being reported that he’ll be testing with new actors to see which have the best chemistry.
Miles Teller and Jordan can be seen together in their upcoming film That Awkward Moment, which will be hitting theaters January 31. This could help Teller land the role of Richards (Mr. Fantastic) if they get to screen test together.
Harington is best known for his role on Game of Thrones, while Kate Mara is most recently known for her incredible work on Netflix’s Emmy award-winning series House of Cards.
Josh Trank is directing the film, and also directed Chronicle, which featured Jordan. The goal of the reboot is to reinvigorate the Fantastic Four franchise, and attempt to mirror the success of the younger cast in X-Men: First Class.
They’re certainly headed in the right direction by testing some of the top young actors in Hollywood, and we imagine Fox is looking to make this rebooted franchise a major part of their portfolio for at least the next three years.
Now that the studio has the final script from Kinberg, they should begin setting dates for production and officially announce the film’s cast.
Gregory Goodman (X-Men: First Class) and Matthew Vaughn (Kick Ass 2) are producing the Fantastic Four reboot with 20th Century Fox. The film’s release date is set for March 6, 2015.
