We have no release date, director, or actors for the Harry Potter spinoff movie Fantastic Beasts. So what’s an eager fan to do? Create fan art!
In recent days we came across several posters floating around the internet that are getting us excited for this new franchise Rowling is writing herself.
These first three posters were all beautifully designed by Deviant Art user HogwartSite. One of them borrows from a Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey poster. The actor in all of them looks very similar to (or may be) Doctor Who and Broadchurch’s Arthur Darvill:
This poster, which we found on Imgur, takes a more classic approach and matches the 1920s New York setting described by Rowling:
This Tumblr photoset assembled by GrangerHermione uses a collection of GIFs to offer a sense of what the story could be like. They use actor Ben Whishaw, who you may recognize from Skyfall and Cloud Atlas:
Finally, we had to share this fan art created by Tumblr user DreamOfFools, which depicts Harry, Ron, and Hermione reading Fantastic Beasts:
Rowling is reportedly still working on the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie script. She has complete control over her work, and Warner Bros. cannot hire a second screenwriter unless she approves of their choice. The film is being produced by David Heyman, who produced the original eight Harry Potter movies. Hopefully more news about the film will arrive this year.
Even in its infancy, the Fantastic Beasts fandom is alive and well. Creators, keep creating. We have a lot of waiting to do.
