Stephen Colbert of The Colbert Report is such a massive fan of The Lord of the Rings that he was able to convince Peter Jackson to give him a cameo in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Check out the shot which features Colbert’s cameo.
Colbert has always been a massive fan of author J.R.R. Tolkien and he’s finally made his way into the stories which are being told by director Peter Jackson.
Colbert has showed his knowledge of Tolkien countless times on his late night show and after years of proving his valor, he finally made it into The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
Watch the video below to see the scene in which he makes his cameo:
Colbert barely looks like himself in the shot, but it’s clearly him. He was lucky enough to be cast as one of the spies that were sent to Laketown in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Fans of his show were very interested about finding out where his cameo would take place.
It even leaked prior to the film’s release that he would be showing up in Laketown, along with his wife and kids, but until now no one had any proof that he was actually in the film. It’s great to see that he and his family got a chance to be in one of Peter Jackson’s adaptations.
Peter Jackson is known for giving himself cameos in his films, along with his friends and co-workers. It’s always nice to see a director who doesn’t mind having a little fun on the set.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug has made $614 million at the worldwide box office. The final Hobbit film will hit theaters on December 17, 2014.
