If our favorite movies from 2013 had honest posters

All of us at Hypable can agree that 2013 was one incredible year for film. Aside from the record-breaking blockbusters and the critically acclaimed Oscar-baiting dramas, the power of individual fandoms showed its true colors at the box office in 2013. Vote for your favorite 2013 honest poster.

As an anthology of film, 2013 came and went in a particularly strong fashion. We’re particularly proud of our individual fandoms like The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which not only pleased fans but critics as well. American Hustle’s critical success is further proof that Jennifer Lawrence is no flash in the pan. Iron Man 3 went on to become the highest grossing movie of 2013, while Gravity proved that original films can still be highly successful.

Fans of Hypable can surely understand that nobody loves these films quite as much as we do, so it’s with a light and jovial heart that we skewer our favorite fandoms, our favorite movies, and our favorite films of 2013. We report on these movies day in and day out, so naturally, we have more than a few opinions about the films when they finally come to theaters. Without further ado, here are our favorite movies of 2013 if their posters had been just a bit more honest.

Be sure to vote below for your favorite honest movie poster!

All of these are great! I had to go with Thor: The Dark World though. “The World of Loki” is hilarious!

  • Michael

she’s definitely getting that second Oscar!

    • Riana-Tiana Menezes

I personally think Lupita Nyong’o has a high chance of getting that award.

      • Gavin Walsh

boom you should have put a bet on

  • Gary65

LOL This reminds me of Honest Trailers. Who wrote these? They’re hysterical

  • Matthew Howland

I disagree with a lot of these. Just opinion. Especially Gatsby. It was fantastic.

    • popoK

Is there a way to see the poll once you’ve voted? I’m not a big fan of this new polling system being used. And I’m not going to connect my facebook just to see the results… am I doing something wrong?

    • http://www.hypable.com/ Joshua Nealey

Just click that you want to vote anomalously after selecting your choice, then it works just like the previous poll.

    • Mand1591

once you click on which you want to vote for click vote anonymously on the bottom

  • Ultron

To be honest I don’t really understand the iron man 3 one.

    • Glaciusx

I think it is referencing Tony’s PTSD.

      • Ultron

I get that part, but how is the mandarin a ticking time-bomb?

        • lillycups

I believe they are referring to EXTREMIS.

  • humanbeing

The Desolation of Smaug poster was cute, but I have an alternate, even more accurate title for that film: “The Wacky Adventures of Kili and Tauriel (Oh, And Some Other Stuff With Some Thing Called A Hobbit)”.

  • Ultron

The hobbit should be this: “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug -an original story by Peter Jackson”

  • MHutch

Completely disagree with Gatsby…it was brilliant

  • Rob Macdonald

It may not have been about a snowman, but Frozen was fantastic

    • Dewy turnfind

  • A.P.W.B.Dumbledore

Its a tie between Thor and The Hobbit for me

  • Riana-Tiana Menezes

  • Glaciusx

  • http://www.eigakanthemovietheater.blogspot.com Jenny Leigh

I love the Gatsby one, mainly because I very much agree. It was one of the biggest disappointments!

  • Amalia

Sensitivity man was my favorite! Didn’t really understand the time bomb part though.

    • yolo

So the Mandarin terrorizes ppls, right? So the Mandarin is really dangerous, and HE sets out ticking bombs, bombs that are timed, but its gonna be some time before the Mandarin himself sets out as the ultimate killer.

  • Julia

Oh, Gatsby wasn’t all that bad! And the acting was amazing.
And the American Hustle is quite wrong, since the predictions say Lupita is going to get the Oscar.

  • Kadma Sixx

I can’t choose one, all this are amazing!

I woud add to Iron-Man’s “The movie where the greatest villain isn’t a villain at all.” Just because I’ll never let go off that.

  • smarmadon

Wait, so the entire plot of Gravity was based on a criminally incompetent understanding of orbital mechanics, and you choose to mock one of the things in the film that’s actually plausible?

How can you call yourself fans if you’re that bad at this?

    • Ted

Take it easy, its a joke. Plus, fire extinguishers last like 5 seconds before theyre out, so its not any more possible than the other blunders.

  • fiona

    Catching blame, oh my i d i e d
Im a big big hunger games fan but it made me laugh

  • http://twitter.com/lukassongley lukaseverdeen

I’m a big Hunger Games and Hobbit fan but I think these are the best “honest” posters!
I don’t like the Gatsby one because the movie was fantastic.

  • ni johns

hahahahahahahahahaha Sensitivity man and brittish imported steel

  • Cardiole

    Hobbit, duh!

  • RoseaBee

C’mon, we all know the only reason the Thor/Marvel franchise is doing so well is because of all the Loki fangirls.
