The full trailer for Transcendence, starring Johnny Depp, Rebecca Hall, Morgan Freeman, Paul Bettany and Kate Mara, has just been released.
We recently saw the release of the film’s teaser trailer, and now in the full trailer we see that Johnny Depp’s consciousness is plugged into a computer, resulting in some very serious problems for the rest of the world. Check out Transcendence’s first trailer below:
Transcendence is the directorial debut for Wally Pfister. Pfister is a cinematographer and is known mostly for his work with The Dark Knight and Inception director Christopher Nolan. Pfister won an Oscar in 2011 for his mind-bending cinematography in Inception.
It’ll be interesting to see Pfister have even more control behind the camera. Even though he won’t be credited as cinematographer, he’s certain to have a very large hand in creating the film’s appearance.
Transcendence includes a jaw-dropping cast. Morgan Freeman, Rebecca Hall, Kate Mara, Cillian Murphy, and Paul Bettany star alongside Johnny Depp in what should be a very unique story. The trailer gives off a Matrix feel, with a bit more sophistication and certainly a more talented cast.
It’ll be nice to see Depp in a more “normal” role. Although from the trailer it doesn’t seem as though we’ll be seeing him normal for long after he’s shot with a radioactive-laced bullet and his consciousness is uploaded to a computer.
Director Pfister recently chimed in on Depp playing a more normal role saying, “I don’t think we’ve seen him [Depp] this way in a long time, just a pair of glasses on and a pretty normal haircut.”
Transcendence will not be released in 3D, but will be landing in 2D and IMAX theaters on April 17, 2014.
