Fox has announced a big shift in their weekly line up: Glee season 5 is moving from Thursdays at 9 p.m. to Tuesdays at 8 p.m. beginning in late February.

In fact, the whole Tuesday night line up is changing. Beginning February 4, Brooklyn Nine-Nine will move to 9:30 p.m while New Girl remains at 9 p.m.

Come February 25, Glee will begin airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. followed by New Girl and Brooklyn.

The move may not surprise viewers who’ve noticed that the musical dramedy’s ratings have been falling over the past couple of years. Last Thursday the show tied its all-time low with 4 million viewers and a 1.5 rating in the adult demo. The only other time they had that small of an audience was Thanksgiving-eve in 2012.

Glee had moved to Thursdays at 9 p.m. last year, but that change has seemingly not worked out. By moving to Tuesdays at 8 p.m., Glee will be back in its original time slot.

Fox also announced today that The Mindy Project and Dads will take breaks from late January/early February until the start of April.

Meanwhile, Glee season 5, episode 6 “Movin’ Out” airs tonight at 9 p.m. eastern/pacific.

I wish it could be back in its original show

I don’t see a problem with it going back to it’s original time slot. I thought part of the reason they moved it was so they could cover more..questionable?..subject matter. Maybe with this switch Glee will go back to it’s original witty humor and avoid the dirty stuff a little more. I don’t know..that was just my first thought.

      Glee… dirty? Huh?

I’m actually really happy for this change. Thursday nights are already filled with WAY too many good shows. 6 shows in one night for me, and I’m glad that number is going to be 5 instead, haha.

So is Tuesdays. NCIS & NCIS: LA & AGENTS OF SHIELD.

    Finally something rational!

I like this change. Thursdays are already really full for me and were about to get fuller with Community returning in January. On Tuesdays I’ve only got New Girl, which comes on after Glee’s new/old timeslot so it works out.

Kinda a bad idea. 8pm on Tuesdays has NCIS & MARVELS: AGENTS OF SHIELD. Sadly GLEE won’t get that much viewers.

Agents of SHIELD isnt a wildly successful show. It’s been dropping off viewers every week. NCIS has always went head-to-head with Glee since Season 1, so that’s not something to really be worried about. Besides, Glee is officially ending in Season 6. I don’t think ratings is the biggest priority that FOX has on the show once that end date has been established.

Do we know if this means that the extended hiatus is no longer a thing?
