Continuing his trend of nabbing roles in films that look to be good, Aaron Paul has just landed his next job.
According to Variety, Aaron Paul has been cast in Fathers and Daughters, the next film from director Gabriele Muccino.
Russell Crowe and Amanda Seyfried have already been cast in the father/daughter drama. The film will follow their lives in New York City in two different time periods. Crowe will play a famous novelist struggling to raise his five-year-old daughter after the death of his wife while also having a mental illness. His story will take place 20 years in the past. Seyfried will play his daughter in the present day who is struggling to get past her troubled childhood.
Paul will join the cast as the love interest of Seyfried. This is smart casting, as Paul and Seyfried have proven in the past that they are compatible on screen. Paul played the love interest of Seyfried on the HBO drama Big Love, a relationship that was quite popular with fans. Many people thought they were an adorable couple, and their chemistry couldn’t be denied.
Director Gabriele Muccino’s track record has been rocky at best, but with a cast like this, we’re hopeful that the film can be a solid one. While we’ve enjoyed some of his films (The Pursuit of Happyness, for example), he’s also made some that didn’t go over as well. His most recent film, Playing For Keeps, was universally panned by critics.
The script does leave some room for hope, however. It’s the first script from new screenwriter Brad Desch, and it was featured on the 2012 black list. The black list highlights the hottest screenplays that failed to get produced for one reason or another, and luckily Desch’s script is making its way to production.
