The international trailer for The Book Thief has dropped, and shines a brighter light on the plot of the film.
A new trailer for The Book Thief tells those viewers who may not be familiar with Markus Zusak’s original novel a little more about the story. The trailer also gives us a better glimpse of Ben Schnetzer (Max), Emily Watson (Rosa) and Nico Liersch (Rudy Steiner).
Up until this point, publicity for the film adaptation has focused on Sophie Nélisse (Liesel) and veteran actor Geoffrey Rush (Hans).
‘The Book Thief’ international trailer:
This second trailer has a much gentler feel to the first The Book Thief trailer, despite showcasing the harsh environment that Liesel grows up in. We were especially excited to see more of the relationship between Liesel and Max, which is so integral to the story, as well as that between Liesel and Rudy.

The Book Thief fans were treated to a second surprise, with the first clip from the movie revealed on Moviefone.
The clip features Rush and Nélisse, apparently after Liesel has finished reading her first book. Hans then takes Liesel to the basement, where he has created a dictionary for her to help her reading.
We are loving the relationship between these two, and we caught an earlier glimpse of it on the newest The Book Thief poster.
The simple style of the new trailer and this first clip just reinforces what has been demonstrated previously, that The Book Thief is set to be a fantastic adaptation. Director Brian Percival (Downton Abbey) has a wonderful visual style, and we can’t wait to hear the score from John Williams.
The Book Thief is set for release on November 15 2013 in the United States.
