Arrow’s second season promises further character development and romantic interests among the Arrow team, including the Flash.
As Hypable previously reported, the Flash or Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) will make an appearance in Starling City for at least three episodes. According to executive producer Andrew Kreisberg in an interview to TVLine, Allen will immediately forge a connection with Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards).
“He has a very easy relationship with Felicity, because Barry’s a forensic scientist. He’s young and a little socially awkward, like she is. So there’s a lot of fun with that.”
Allen is a fan of the Hood (Stephen Amell) and will be changed by the Hood in regards to his own hero arc. Kreisberg emphasized that Allen is just a guy as opposed to Superman or Aquaman.
Kreisberg also emphasized the compatibility of The Flash to be a spinoff of Arrow in part due to the everyman quality of both characters. “While we’re introducing fantastical concepts to things, we also want to try to keep the show grounded and as realistic as possible.”
As Hypable previewed in our look at the first promo clip of Arrow’s second season premiere, Felicity and Oliver (Stephen Amell), known collectively as Olicity, will grow closer as the season progresses. Rickards admits that there is chemistry between them while Amell hints that Oliver’s opinion of Felicity is changing.
Amell says, “I definitely think that Oliver is changing his idea of who Felicity is and what she is capable of, because she’s proving herself over and over again.”
Oliver will also have a difficult relationship with Isabel Rochev (Summer Glau), an executive of a competitor company. Rochev does not think highly of Oliver and does not want to help him save Queen Consolidated. Looks like Oliver will have a lot on his plate this season.
Thea (Willa Holland) will have difficulty this season in her relationships with Roy (Colton Haynes) and Moira (Susanna Thompson), however will be successful in managing Verdant after Tommy’s (Colin O’Donnell) unfortunate demise. Don’t expect Roy and Oliver’s relationship to improve however as Oliver still is not pleased that Roy wants to be the Hood’s ally.
Arrow’s second season premieres on October 9 at 8 p.m. EST on the CW.
