Earlier this month AMC greenlit the Breaking Bad spin off Better Call Saul which will be a prequel.

Giancarlo Esposito is one actor who’d be interested in coming back to reprise his role as Gus.

The actor played fan favorite character Gus in earlier seasons of AMC’s hit meth drama before Walt successfully eliminated him with a bomb to the face.

Said Esposito to The Wrap earlier this month about potentially returning for the spin off, “I love my Breaking Bad family and would welcome the chance to work with them again if given the opportunity.”

What’s more, Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan said earlier this year that he would love to work with the Gus actor again. He said in July, “Any chance I get to work with Giancarlo again, I would jump at the opportunity. He is a wonderful actor and such a sweet guy.”

So is this a match made in heaven? While we don’t know much yet about Better Call Saul, we do know that Gus was in the meth business for a while before being knocked off, so it’s quite possible that he could’ve been working with people who by extension were working with the colorful lawyer. Like we mentioned above, Gus was an excellent character and beloved for all the wrong reasons by viewers, so his return would be a major get for the show and help draw in viewers.

Meanwhile, Breaking Bad season 5, episode 16 – the series finale – airs this Sunday, September 29 at 9 p.m. eastern/pacific on AMC.

So is BCS a prequel or something?

    • ciblele

      Yes, it is a prequel.

      • Gary65

        Possible translation: Saul dies.

        • Charlie

Or another possible translation: Saul moves to Nebraska

          • Bob

Or another possible translation: Saul could die or couldn’t but it doesn’t matter because it’s a fucking prequel.

They arming for a Prequel so far!

It would be difficult to write him in. When Gus is introduced in Breaking Bad, Saul only knows of him by reputation, not even by name. If he showed up in BCS at all, it would have to be as a string-puller, occasionally manipulating things from a distance.

Which I would be 100% fine with to be honest.

Gus should have his own prequel spin-off: “THE CHICKEN MAN” or “UNCONTROLLED POULTRY”
