The CW has released an ominous new poster promoting Supernatural season 9.
This poster features Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles), Castiel (Misha Collins), and Crowley (Mark Sheppard). The foursome stands outside the church where Sam nearly cured Crowley in the season 8 finale. The skies are dark and we see streaks of light — the falling angels.
The season 9 tagline? “Prepare for the fall.”
All summer the cast and crew has teased how season 9 will deal with the fallout of Metatron expelling the angels from Heaven. Our favorite angel, Castiel, had his grace stolen so he is newly human. But we will also meet a number of new angels, including Ezekiel, played by Battlestar Galactica alum Tahmoh Penikett.
Ezekiel will play a major part in the Supernaural season 9 season premiere, titled “I Think I’m Gonna Like It Here.” The synopsis reads:
Dean is frantic after Sam collapses and the doctor tells Dean his brother won’t make it. Desperate, Dean sends out an all points bulletin via prayer to every angel in the area, asking them to help his brother. In exchange, Dean will owe that angel a favor. Numerous angry angels race to find and kill Dean, but one, Ezekiel, gets to him first. Meanwhile, Sam fights for his life and must face some familiar demons to do so. Castiel struggles to survive without powers.
Be sure to check out the promotional stills and long and short promos for the episode as well.
A lengthy sneak peek previews what we can look forward to in season 9, including the return of some familiar faces. Padalecki also recently teased the new season as the “best season in a long, long, long time.”
He added, “We’ve got a lot of cool new characters, some great old throwback characters, and just a really great, strong storyline.”
Supernatural season 9 premieres on Tuesday, October 8 at 9:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
