New Glee season 5 stills show one of the new season’s most anticipated guest stars, Demi Lovato, bonding with Naya Rivera’s Santana.
Demi Lovato will make her Glee debut in season 5, episode 2 “Tina In The Sky With Diamonds.” In this episode, her character, allegedly named Dani, will befriend Rachel and Santana at the diner where all three are employed as waitresses.
Rivera and Lovato will share a duet – “Here Comes The Sun” – in what will be the second half of the Glee season 5 two-part Beatles tribute. Rivera confirmed at the VMAs last month that Lovato’s character would be not just a friend but a new love interest for Santana.
Our first official look at Demi Lovato in costume came a few weeks ago from Naya Rivera’s instagram, but these HQ stills, posted at the mysterious new tumblr GleeUHQ, show Dani and Santana bonding in their cute waitress uniforms.
Lovato recently discussed her new role with Ryan Seacrest, giving the message that she hopes her character will have a stronger impact on the audience than mere shock value, and sees the role as a huge opportunity.
I don’t want people to take from this, ‘Oh my god, Demi is kissing a girl.’ I want people to take from it [that] this is actually an incredible step in our generation today where I’m able to play a young lesbian on primetime TV. I’m honored to be able to be hopefully inspiring people with my character to be who they are and not be afraid of it or ashamed.
Demi Lovato is set to first appear in “Tina In The Sky With Diamonds,” airing October 3. Glee season 5 returns this Thursday, September 26, with the first half of the show’s Beatles tribute, “Love, Love, Love.”
Are you excited to see Demi Lovato take on this Glee role? Do Dani and Santana look cute together?
