Game of Thrones season 4 has added a few more actresses to their cast roster: meet Jane McGrath, Paola Dionisotti and Gabrielle Dempsey.
Irish actress Jane McGrath (pictured) speaks in an interview with IFTN about several new projects she has coming up, and one of them is Game of Thrones!
“I’m not even allowed to talk to my friends about it and can’t be giving anything away,” McGrath teases. She does, however, reveal that her character is a wildling.
“My character is beyond the Wall and it was stunning,” she says. “When you’re on set you feel like you’re actually there. It’s incredible!”
While it is standard for new Game of Thrones cast members to keep their characters’ identities secret (see Mark Gatiss’ attempt to divert rumours at the San Diego Comic-Con), there are very few named wildling women to choose from.

Book fans will know that if McGrath’s role is significant – unless her character is of the showrunners’ own invention, of course – this means she’ll most likely play Mance Rayder’s wife Dalla or her sister Val.
A Song of Ice and Fire readers were puzzled by the absence of these two characters in Game of Thrones season 3, but since we will most likely pick up Mance Rayder’s story in season 4, it makes sense to bring these two characters in now.
Winter is Coming has unearthed another two pieces of casting news: first, Paola Dionisotti has been cast as Lady Waynwood, another significant character at the Vale.
As previously reported, Game of Thrones season 4 will see the return of Lysa Arryn and her son Robert, and we will likely see a few more Vale-related casting news within the next few weeks.
Finally, recent drama school graduate Gabrielle Dempsey will be playing the role of “Innkeeper’s daughter.” We don’t know if this will be a speaking part, but if it is, several possible characters spring to mind. Got any theories?
Game of Thrones season 4 premieres in the spring of 2014.
