Fifty Shades of Grey finally has its leading man and leading lady. Now the question is – does anyone care anymore?
That’s right, the leads of this controversial film adaptation have been cast. Charlie Hunnam, known best from his role in Sons of Anarchy, is set to play Christian Grey, while Dakota Johnson (Ben & Kate) will play his impressionable love interest, Anastasia Steele.
The Fifty Shades of Grey adaptation will be directed by Sam Taylor-Wood (Nowhere Boy) and is slated for release on August 1, 2014.
The question is – does anyone care about this series anymore? Sure, author E.L. James was the top earning author of 2013 – but while the series used to be new and exciting, now it seems like no one is talking about it. Fifty Shades of Grey was released in 2011, and followed by sequels Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed in 2012. Has the production team waited too long to adapt this book?
And some people never really cared – after all, even without reading the book you can figure out what it is about. And just as the book isn’t for everyone, neither will the film be (maybe even to a greater degree). The film might be slated for release next year, but here are ten things I would choose over watching a Fifty Shades of Grey film adaptation, regardless of who is cast in it.
