Doctor Who fans know what a tight lid the BBC likes to keep on their show’s secrets. However, thanks to Twitter, the Christmas Special nemesis might have been revealed.
Considering the number of Twitter jokes that Steven Moffat has written into his Doctor Who scripts in the past two years alone, and the fact that he quit his own Twitter account citing that it was a distraction, there’s a certain amount of irony in the fact that what the Doctor may be facing at the Christmas special was revealed on, you guessed it, Twitter.
According to Digital Spy, it seems that stuntman Darrelle Parker didn’t get the cone of silence memo. On August 28, he tweeted the following, including a photo, all of which has since been taken down.
Great to be stunting again for Dr Who in the Christmas special playing a Cyberman! pic.twitter.com/KslWbQdkWr

Parker’s account, at the time of this writing, had under 200 followers and the information was not picked up on immediately.
This would not be the first time the Cybermen have made an appearance as a major foe in a Christmas special. They last appeared in 2008 in the Christmas special entitled “The Next Doctor,” with David Morrissey in the title role.
The Cybermen also made a return appearance this year in the regular series where Neil Gaiman penned the episode “Nightmare in Silver.” Steven Moffat enticed Gaiman to write the episode by asking him if he’d like to make the Cybermen scary again. Many felt that Gaiman more than accomplished this goal. Arguably, it was by far the scariest episode of the season, as well as Matt Smith’s finest acting moment of the season, if not the entire series.
The question now remains will the Cybermen coming back at Christmas be a major villain, and tie into what Gaiman did in his episode? The other possibility is that they will be a “montage villain” similar to what was seen in the ending of the Padorica Opens.
