An entertainment website claims to have on good authority that Bryan Cranston will play Lex Luthor in the Man of Steel sequel pitting Batman VS Superman.
Furthermore, Cranston reportedly has a “six appearance deal” in which he will show up in multiple Justice League-related movies.
“DC is going to have all of their main characters liberally appearing or at least mentioned in all of their movies to portray a more connected world than what Marvel Studios has done so far,” Cosmic Book News writes.
They also believe Affleck-buddy Matt Damon could be up for a role. “DC also does have major interest in bringing Matt Damon into the Justice League now that Affleck is on board, and it is rumored that he is being considered for Aquaman or Martian Manhunter.”
We advise readers to take this news with a grain of salt for now. What’s most sketchy to us is that in their report, Cosmic Book News says that Warner Bros. plans to make the announcement of Cranston’s involvement following the Breaking Bad series finale at the end of September in order to “dove tail” off of what’s expected to be a huge ending for the show.
Our problem with that idea is that it would be near impossible for Warner Bros. to keep the secret for so long without a journalist finding out about it.
Time will tell whether or not Cranston has been cast as Lex Luthor or not. The actor said earlier this month he would be interested in portraying the character but appeared to have been speaking in a non-serious matter about getting involved.
Warner Bros. surprised the world on Thursday when they announced Ben Affleck will play Batman in the Man of Steel sequel.
