We have two interesting updates surrounding The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’s soundtrack.

First, Coldplay has announced that their song “Atlas,” which is scheduled to be the first single off the Catching Fire soundtrack, has been pushed from August 26 to September 6 (and September 8 in the United Kingdom.).

Said the band in a tweet:

If you can’t wait for the song, get a teaser by checking out the song’s lyrics.

In other Catching Fire soundtrack news, music producer Scooter Braun has seemingly revealed that Ed Sheeran and Tori Kelly will be a part of the album.

In a tweet that has since been removed, Braun wrote, “Best morning gift! @ToriKelly @edsheeran #HungerGames WOW!!!!!”

Presumably the pair recorded a new song together. Braun is a producer for artists like Justin Bieber, The Wanted, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Usher.

The Catching Fire soundtrack will be released in November ahead of the film’s theatrical debut. The Hunger Games soundtrack included many big artists like Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, The Civil Wars, The Decemberists, and Miranda Lambert, so as you can imagine this follow up soundtrack should be equally impressive.

Catching Fire opens in theaters November 22.

What artists do you hope to see on the soundtrack?

Wait wait wait… Ed Sheeran doing a song for Catching Fire??????? I think I just died. That would be so freaking awesome.

  • Elliot Burford

Florence needs to do a song!
Her movie soundtrack songs so far have been amazing
(Heavy in your arms, breath of life, over the love)

I know VersaEmerge has been trying to campaign to get their song “Fire (Aim Your Arrows High)” onto any Hunger Games soundtrack. I would really love that to happen because the song fits, but sadly I don’t think it will.

I am freaking out right now. Coldplay is my favourite band and Ed Sheeran is my favourite singer. THIS HAS TO HAPPEN.

I actually want more folks-y, rock stuff on the soundtrack. The one for the first film was perfect!

    • Lauren Chapin

Yeah, I REALLY want Mumford & Sons, or that type of music, on the soundtracks.

Yeah, I REALLY want Mumford & Sons, or that type of music, on the soundtracks.

Ahh I’ve known from past tweets that Tori and Ed have collaborated together, so I wonder if they’re collaborating on the Catching Fire soundtrack, or if they’re going to have two individual songs. I love both of them, so I’m excited!

  • Ana Sousa

Florence + The Machine, Ellie Goulding and obviously Ed Sheeran! :D

  • hgcfmj

    Taylor Swift again!!

  • Naaaaaatey

Kings of Leon! Their new album Mechanical Bull is sounding great so far!

  • RealorNotReal17

Of Monsters and Men!! Their music is just the right blend of folky-indie-rock and the meanings behind their songs are so deep. I know that if they were given Catching Fire to use as inspiration they could make an amazing song!

  • Annick

Taylor Swift again! Both of the songs she did for THG were absolutely perfect!!!!

  • The Junebug

Coldplay is perfect for the soundtrack. I felt like it was Clocks, Fix You, and Viva La Vida all together – the best of all their albums. Hunger Games had such a varied artist list on their first album, I hope they have it that way the Cathing Fire soundtrack. One artist who I think has the right sound for Hunger Games is Brandon Heath. Listen to his song In to the Dust from his Blue Mountain album http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMo_cTyB02o
