The first chapter of House of Hades, the fourth book in the Heroes of Olympus series, has been released online for everyone to enjoy!

You can read the chapter right here.

The first chapter of House of Hades begins in Hazel’s point of view. She is joined by Nico and Leo as they sail on the Argo II across the sky. Unfortunately, some mountain gods aren’t too happy they’re invading their air space, and start hurtling boulders at them.

The crew of the Argo II had been travelling like that for several weeks, constantly bombarded with attacks by various mythical monsters. Their goal? To reach Epirus, the House of Hades.

If they can get there, they can save Annabeth and Percy from Tartarus, which is what they fell into at the end of The Mark of Athena. But there will be a difficult challenge waiting for them, one that Nico told Hazel not to speak about. Luckily, her horse Arion comes to their rescue, and he may just have a solution that could save them all.

Check out the full synopsis of The House of Hades below:

At the conclusion of The Mark of Athena, Annabeth and Percy tumble into a pit leading straight to the Underworld. The other five demigods have to put aside their grief and follow Percy’s instructions to find the mortal side of the Doors of Death. If they can fight their way through the Gaea’s forces, and Percy and Annabeth can survive the House of Hades, then the Seven will be able to seal the Doors both sides and prevent the giants from raising Gaea. But, Leo wonders, if the Doors are sealed, how will Percy and Annabeth be able to escape?

They have no choice. If the demigods don’t succeed, Gaea’s armies will never die. They have no time. In about a month, the Romans will march on Camp Half-Blood. The stakes are higher than ever in this adventure that dives into the depths of Tartarus.
