“This film is one of the most unique films I have ever been associated with,” said Pixar Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter. “This is a magical, wonderful, original film.”

Inside Out director Pete Doctor was on hand to talk about his film and told the audience that the storyline could only have been created with animation.

The lead character is named Riley who’s forced to move to San Francisco when we meet her. The film is set partially inside of her head, and Doctor said that her emotions are the real stars of the film.

The character of Anger will be voiced by comedian Lewis Black. Mindy Kaling (The Mindy Project) will voice her emotion Disgust. Fear is voiced by Bill Hader (who we learned would star in The Good Dinosaur too). Joy will be voiced by Amy Poehler (Parks & Rec). Sadness will be voiced by Phyllis Smith (The Office). Hader and Smith were on hand at the event to say hi to fans.

Each of the characters/actors noted above plays a certain emotion of Riley’s. A clip was shown to the audience, and one spectator compared it to the Cranium Command attraction at EPCOT. Another said that the clip shows that the emotions work in a headquarters, watching Riley’s point of view through a screen.

After Inside Out, the conversation moved to Finding Dory – Pixar’s Finding Nemo sequel. Director Andrew Stanton took the stage to introduce new details to the crowd.

Stanton says that Dory takes place about a year after the events in Nemo when she decides to search for her original family.

New cast members were announced: Dory’s mom Jenny will be voiced by Diane Keaton (The Godfather) and Eugene Levy (American Pie) will play her father Charlie. Ty Burrell (Modern Family) will play Bailey the Beluga whale.

Zootopia

Zootopia is an original film by Disney (not Pixar) inspired by Bambi, Jungle Book, Dumbo, Lion King, and Robin Hood, according to director Byron Howard (Tangled). He says the film is “a buddy action comedy set in an animal world where humans never existed.”

The film is set in a modern world designed by the animals in Zootopia. It is “unlike anything before in Disney history.”
