Scholastic has released the new Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince back cover which shows Harry, Dumbledore, and the Sorting Hat.
The artwork, designed by Kazu Kibuishi, includes a quote from the headmaster of Hogwarts: “When you have that last piece of the jigsaw, everything will, I hope, be clear.” The two lead characters are standing in Dumbledore’s office. It’s nice to see Albus featured on the back given his untimely death in the book.
Dumbledore also appears with Harry Potter on the front of the book. See the cover here, depicting the two friends about to enter the cave.
The white text at the bottom of the image is a new addition that we haven’t seen with the previous back covers. It will most likely not appear on the physical books; it is a watermark.
The United States publisher of the Harry Potter books is unveiling one new back cover a day. Deathly Hallows’ back cover will be released on Wednesday, at which point we think all of the new artwork for this re-release will be out in the open.
Last week Scholastic shared the front cover of Deathly Hallows as well as the box set art and the spine art.
See the other back covers for Sorcerer’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, and Order of the Phoenix.
The books with new covers will be published on August 27 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Harry Potter series and to reach out to new generations of readers.
