The first Muppets Most Wanted teaser trailer debuted online today. It’s the sequel to the 2011 runaway revival called The Muppets starring Amy Adams and Jason Segel.
The Muppets Most Wanted trailer is light on details about the plot, but it does feature our first look at Muppet-franchise newcomers Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell, and Tina Fey who take on the lead human roles.
At the beginning of the trailer we’re encouraged to get excited about the concept of a sequel in a very Muppet-like manor. A rousing performance of “Moves Like Jagger” also features, but we’re not sure why. The song will be a little dated by the time 2014 rolls around.

The Muppets 2 trailer certainly raises a high bar for the cast and lovable puppets to climb, and we hope they’ll hit it when viewers get a chance to watch next year.
Disney also released five new stills from the film today to coincide with the trailer:
“The Muppets gang head out on a global tour, selling out grand theatres in some of Europe’s most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid and London,” reads the official synopsis. “But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine (played by Ty Burrell) — the World’s Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit — and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two, portrayed by Ricky Gervais.”
Reports have indicated that Miss Piggy may get married in Most Wanted, but it’s not clear who she weds (hopefully Kermit?).

Other actors taking on human characters include Christoph Waltz. Tom Hiddleston plays someone named Great Escapo. Sean Diddy Combs and Celine Dion will also make cameos.
The Muppets Most Wanted hits theaters March 21, 2014.
