Long before they appeared on some of the biggest sitcoms on television, Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family), Adam Scott (Six Feet Under, Parks and Recreation) and other familiar faces were vying for roles on The Office!

Today, NBC released a clip of the casting tapes from such names as Stonestreet, Scott and Seth Rogen just to name a few. Check out the video below:

The clip is being released as a promotion for the upcoming release of The Office’s final season on Blu-ray and DVD. The Office season 9, The Farewell Season, which aired between 2012 and 2013 will be available to purchase on September 3, 2013.

The Blu-Ray and DVD will have lots of bonus features, including casting tapes like the ones you see above. It will also include:

  • 2003 Casting – Never before seen audition tapes featuring the cast of the show, plus a few surprise auditions from future comedy stars including Seth Rogen, Eric Stonestreet, Jon Cho and more!
  • Deleted Scenes – Over of  2 hours of Deleted Scenes
  • The Office: A Look Back – Retrospective with the cast and their memories of the show
  • Finale Table Read – Hilarious cast read-through for “The Office” series finale
  • Blooper Reel
  • Autotune Andy – Autotune Music Video

What are your thoughts on the casting clip released above? Could you see any of the actors in the clip potentially playing the roles for which they were reading? Let us know what you think in the comments below and be sure to pick up the historic 9th and final season of The Office on September 3rd!

It’s weird they list Six Feet Under for what Adam Scott is known for… he was in two episodes…

Yep. C’mon hypable. Same thing with dr who recently. Not listing Thick of it or In the Loop for what Peter Cabaldi is known for. I like this site a lot but often it feels like the people who write these posts just check imdb without really knowing what they talking about.

I can see Adam as Jim, he has the dry humour and the right look.

Fun fact: Adam Scott and Kerry Washington were both also in the original, unaired pilot of Bryan Fuller’s Wonderfalls playing the roles that were given to Lee Pace and Tracie Thoms before filming of the full series started.
