There have been quite a few Vampire Diaries season 5 tidbits being released lately, so we thought it was just about time for an interview round up to let you know all the newest developments in and outside the town of Mystic Falls.
We should probably begin with the biggest news… the Vampire Diaries season 5, episode 1 title. It is:
Since we have also learned that season 5 will begin with a flash forward 3 months, this could just be a reference to that, but that is still up for debate.
As far as what we know about season 5, TVfanatic, Enstarz, and EW.com have conducted interviews lately in which we have learned quite a bit about what may be happening inside and out of Mystic Falls:
1. The Other Side will make an actual appearance, and we will get to see what it looks like.
2. We will meet Stefan’s ex-girlfriend Tessa, a nobleman’s daughter, in the third episode via flashback to a decade we haven’t seen before, and she will acquire herself a daylight ring somehow.
3. Damon and Elena will have some happy times, but will also deal with external forces trying to drive them apart. According to Julie Plec, herself, “The biggest hurdles in their relationship come from external sources, people, ideas, notions that are trying to say they’re not supposed to be together. It’s really going to be more about them fighting to prove that they should be together and it’s okay.”
4. Stefan will not escape from the safe in the quarry unscathed, it will have some sort of lasting effect on him. Julie Plec told Wetpaint, “In spite of being in the bottom of the quarry floor, the Stefan storyline in episode one is really moving, and keeps alive that sense of his strong feelings for both his brother and for Elena.”
5. At least three new characters will arrive: a doctor with details about Damon’s history; a Russian named Nadia that Matt and Rebekah will have met on their summer excursions; and a college boy named Jesse, played by Kendrick Sampson, who may have eyes for Caroline. Check out all the details in this video from Clevvertv:
Last, but probably most importantly, we are finally going to learn more about the doppelgangers, including how they came to exist and why.
Straight from our favorite EP in an interview with Wetpaint, Julie Plec said this about why The Vampire Diaries season 5 will be the year of the doppelganger, “now that we realize Stefan’s a doppelgänger, we kind of explore the deeper mythology of why does this weird phenomena occur. So that’s pretty cool. And that has ripple effects for all of our main three characters.”
All in all, we think this is starting to sound like The Vampire Diaries season 5 is going to be a killer ride, and we can’t wait for October 3rd to get here.
