Parks & Rec season 6 will see the departure of two of its greats. Actor Rob Lowe and actress Rashida Jones will depart the NBC comedy early next year.
Buzzfeed broke the news, and the reason for their departure is unclear. They will leave Parks & Rec during season 6, episode 13 (during February sweeps).
Since there’s plenty of time to build up to their departure, we’re sure there will be a proper send off for the two people who play Chris and Ann respectively. It’s likely that they will say goodbye in a way involving the baby they are trying to have.
When Lowe first joined the show, many assumed that he would just be a guest star due to his high profile, but he has been a full cast member of the show since his first appearance in season 2’s penultimate episode.
Rashida Jones as Ann has played an integral role in the show as Leslie’s “beautiful tropical fish” best friend. Though the writers have clearly periodically struggled with ways to get her involved with the parks department due to her initial role as an outsider, settling down with Chris and having a baby could just be the most natural end for a character on a show that isn’t ready to finish up yet.
Parks & Rec season 6 premieres September 26 on NBC.
