As Dexter season 8 pushes forward, Showtime’s entertainment President, David Nevins, continues to push the idea of an afterlife series for Dexter.
Nevins has on numerous occasions this summer been questioned regarding the status of Showtime’s flagship series, Dexter, and he’s talking about a spin-off once more.
Nevins’s comments come after Dexter season 8 episode 5 “This Little Piggy” aired, with Entertainment Weekly quoting Nevins saying, “draw your own conclusions” after news of Showtime penning a two year deal with Dexter‘s showrunner, Scott Buck.
When speaking to a group of reporters, Nevins said, “we are really not dealing with it at all until we are through with this season and maybe a while thereafter.”
But, once again, Nevins hasn’t closed the door on the idea of a spin-off, and the longer this drags on, the more likely we expect it to happen.
The reporters continued to question Nevins regarding the idea of a spin-off. Nevins responded with, “There are always things that can be done”.
“We have a deal with Scott and we are going to talk to a bunch of different things with him. I don’t know anything. There is nothing real. There’s no sense of whether it will happen, if it will happen, but I want to stay in business with Scott,” continued Nevins.
Buck seems to be highly regarded within Showtime’s walls, and we see this as no surprise due to the success of Dexter. Whether he will be lined up for something original, or to maybe continue Dexter will need to be answered soon, as the Dexter season 8 finale is a mere six weeks away.
