Samuel L. Jackson has reiterated that he’d like to reprise his role of Mace Windu in Star Wars Episode VII, regardless of the fact that his character is long since dead.

While appearing on the Graham Norton Show on BBC One in the United Kigdom, Samuel L. Jackson revealed that if he got his way, he’d reappear as Mace Windu in Star Wars Episode VII.

I want to be in “Star Wars” now too, in J.J.’s “Star Wars.” I mean, come on. Jedi fall from incredible heights and a lot of them have lived with one hand. I think I could handle it.

This isn’t the first time that Jackson has said that he’d like to return for Star Wars Episode VII. In December, Jackson had this to say:

I’m not surprised but totally geeked by the idea of there being more Star Wars. It’s like, okay, Obi-Wan was dead when episode four started, so maybe everyone thinks I’m dead and we’ll find out what happened to Mace Windu. I can come back as one-armed or a one-handed Jedi that’s still around that didn’t actually die. I could do that or be a ghost hologram. I don’t care. I just want to stay associated with the franchise. Not that I won’t because I’ve been in three of them.

Around the same time, he also gave more explanations of how Mace Windu may have survived:

He just went out the window. He’s a Jedi! He could have landed on a ledge.

We think there’s room for him to cameo as a ghost, but it’d be shocking to see it be much more than that. It also wouldn’t be a surprise to see director J.J. Abrams stay as far away from the Star Wars prequels as possible, and if he does, Jackson can’t return.

Thanks for the heads up, Latino Post.

Do you think Samuel L. Jackson should appear in ‘Star Wars Episode VII’?

  • Ultron

As much as I love Samuel L Jackson, I think it would be best if he did not reappear. He would be all old and nasty and I don’t want this movie to be a a movie where all the old stars come back, I want it to be it’s own and new thing without being weighed down by others.

    • DemoElite

I disagree. It can work. I think having bits of the 6 other films and the characters is a good transition to a new franchise. Its been too long. We need old faces to help us get into the new story. I remember how Episode 1 started ..so new and fast paced, couldn’t get my grips on what was happening and where i was. We need that transition. Mace could do it nicely. Maybe he is a hermit, living in exile and Luke needs to bring him back to teach the new guys…he could have a small part and it would work!

      • Trent Taylor

No way. Mace Windu would be long dead, even if he survived the original fall. Ep. VII is near certainly around 35 years after Return of the Jedi. Mace Windu would be 54 years older by that time. Mace doesn’t look terribly young, and I don’t know if I buy 90 year old Mace Windu. The only prequel era character that should maybe show up is Ahsoka. She’s young enough that it’s believable. Plus, though I like the prequels, to most fans, reminders of the prequels will be a turn off. Disney needs Episode VII to be liked by people.

      • Ultron

If he was some old hermit then VII would be exactly like episode IV where he trains them to fight some evil bad guy. No sir. Plus if he was alive, where was he while the rebels were fighting the empire? I think vader would be able to sense if windu was alive. Plus if he somehow is in the movie, I would want it to be through the force with all the other jedi masters because he would definitely be dead by this time if luke and han are really old. And the transition is luke, leia, and han coming back, that’s all that I care to have.

no no no . After mace windu falls he gains consciousness again lands on a cargo ship/flying semi. he see’s he’s bleed profusely he jumps on other speeder/flying car on the way down. he land right in front of the senate building. Windu see’s storm troopers all gather around looking at a decapitated hand. Windu disposes of them with the force with his only hand, windu gets his hand and his lightsaber. windu starts to since anakin kinda close windu blots in the night. Anakin kinda since windu barely but as windu run farther the since fades. Anakin just thinks it’s windu dying off slowly and fading away. Windu finds some kinda local doctor he tells him to help him. all of sudden there stuff getting knocked over behind them, windu and the doctor see it’s storm troopers that have fallowed his trail. The doctor says come in and shuts the door. The doctor fixes his hand and the doctor see’s the lightsaber windu trying to hide. The doctor gives windu some tea. The tea has some kind of sleeping juice in it not knowing windu drinks the tea , and windu’s to weak to since any thing do to loss of a lot of blood. After windu falls asleep the doctor puts windu into a stasis Ice pod. The doctor get greedy and sells windu in the pod to some off world planet’s king who wants a jedi trophy. The doctor sells windu’s lightsaber to Senator Sano Sauro. One day why’ll in the castle on some planet far away 64 years into the future a maid or robot of some sort knocks a book shelf over and it hit the buttons to the stasis pod releasing windu. windu battles his way of planet killing every thing in his way. windu finds out what time period he’s in and freaks out. windu returns to croissant and finds out theres a new jedi order. A year later exposed 7 starts.

          • Lee Carey

Good idea, stasis pod, gets released accidentally and returns to courasant and finds the new jedi order led by Luke Skywalker, but also will he have a new lightsaber or will he snatch it back from the senator…

  • Alexander

Mace Windu was a total badass, but I sincerely hope that they don’t put him in the sequel trilogy. We’ve already seen what happens when the writers try to shoehorn every single character from one trilogy into another.

  • Jake Baldino

I would like to see him come back, but wouldn’t there be a slight scheduling conflict with Avengers 2?

  • John Couch

Sam Jackson just didnt fit Star Wars to begin with. His character was crap, boring. Like everyone’s in the prequels. He’s best being a jive talking, cool, bad mo’ fo. Not a stoic monk.

    • Dylan

      Get out.

  • http://hypable.com Selina

    Attack of the Windu Clones?

    • Bob Bobberton

      lame

  • wez

Good idea ! make sure there is lots of action in the film !!!!!!!!

  • Josh Boulton

I think it’d be best if he didn’t come back. I love him to bits and he was great in the new trilogy, but the franchise needs to make a move in a fresh direction and not drag back too many old stars through weak plot devices.

  • Winkyxx

    But you dead, saan!

  • Eashan

Yes Because It Was Not Obvious That Jedi Master Mace Windu Died And Even though I’m 7 Years Old I’ve Watched All Of The Clone Wars And All The Normal Episodes (1-6)

    • eashan

      sorry i am 8

  • Eashan

    also mace is brilliant

  • Eashan

what are they going to call it attack of the sith

    or return of mace windu

  • DylanM

If ANYONE needs to come back from the Prequels it should and must be Natalie Portman! Give Padme a REAL death.

    • steven

true on that she needs a real death

    • Trent Taylor

The fact that her funeral (dat zoom in on the Japor snippet) made me sadder than her actual death is kind of odd. Problem with the death is that it did need to be interspersed and juxtaposed with the birth of Vader and the twins for the poetic nature of the events. Star Wars isn’t supposed to be realistic or logical. It’s greek myth in nature.

      • DylanM

I mean, don’t get me wrong I love star wars, I grew up with it, and unlike most, I think the prequels are brilliant and almost perfect. But I would give my left lung if it meant they would bring back Natalie Portman for the new movies. haha.

  • steven

hell ya bring him back in to star war i have been a star wars fan all my life and the most two people i love in star wars is windu and anney

  • Darth Joe Falcone

Mace windu would of died of old age regardless by the time of episode 7. Read the timeline people! lol

  • swesrj077

I hope he’s not in it. The less association Star Wars VII has with the prequels, the better.

  • Stefan Sabo

I’d be all for it, as long as it was something like a Jedi Holocron or whatever. Or if they find a way to bring him back that doesn’t feel like it was pulled out of someone’s rear, I’d be happy.

  • Jon

I don’t expect Abrams to stay away from the prequels at all. I expect many references to it. Do you want a 9 part saga, or a 6 part saga with a tacked on tumor trilogy?

    • Wampa Clown

If by “tumor trilogy” you mean the prequels, then I want a complete 6 part saga that’s cohesive and visually similar to the original trilogy. That is, Episodes IV – IX.

      • Jon

No, I mean we already have a beautiful six part saga. Do you want this sequel trilogy to expand upon the masterpieces we already have, or ruin them?

  • Will

He dead…….. no really though he died in episode III. How the heck could they bring him back unless he is a holocron?

    • Jacob Little

You don’t know that he died all that happened was that Anikin cut his hand off and Darth Sidious used lightning on him to throw him out the window that’s it sooo he could have landed on a speeder

  • chawk

I’m not to sure how that would work. As much as I loved Samuel L. Jackson in the prequels it would look… awkward. Yes, we all saw his character getting flung to his death by Palpatine and if he were to appear in Ep VII and if his character did survive the fall then Mace would be what? Almost 150 years old? Younger maybe? I dunno. I think it would be best to leave it up to JJ Abrams and the screenwriters.

  • Rufus12131

Samuel Jackson, who in some movies can make the whole film, was AWFUL as a Jedi in Star Wars. Hopefully Abrams knows this and has no intention of using him. His acting was sub par, but on top of it, his swordsmanship looked like he picked up a sword 5 minutes before shooting and went with it… Bringing Kenobi back to talk with Luke, or Yoda back, or even Qui Gon Gin back would make more sense. Mace Windu should be left where he belongs, in the prequels.

  • Bob Bobberton

    Ah still believe in heeroes.

  • Jonathan Thomas

He could be like a jolee bindo esque character from Knights of The Old Republic

  • Jacob Little

You have to have him back on. It would be the best feeling ever and a lot of people would love to see that happen. So my answer is yes

  • Eashan

Attack Of The Jedi sounds cool when the jedi reappear and the sepratists/sith/galactic empire gets destroyed

  • christian cramberg

      Not True Fucket Man

  • Eashan

Eashan its fairly obsive it s gt

  • Lee Carey

It be awesome to see Samuel L Jackson return as Mace Windu, think about it, he did go out a window, he may have landed on a ledge, survived, went into hiding and had a medic droid look at his missing hand and decided to repair it for him and began to travel across the universe, maybe met Yoda, Kenobi or some of the wookies.
Also for Ewan McGregor, if he wants to return, he may have to play another character as his ghost was played by Alec Guinness. But why change Sebastian Shaw’s ghost with Hayden Christensen, just made him a special edition character, yeah it is based on him and his kids, but they shouldn’t of done a screen edit to Return of the Jedi.
