Actor Nat Wolff says he’s up for a role in The Fault in Our Stars movie.

Those who’ve been following the production closely know that Wolff was one of many actors who was up for the lead male role as Gus. The part eventually went to Ansel Elgort.

“It was really great. The script is really great,” Wolff said about auditioning for Gus. But the second part of his comment was more interesting. “Josh Boone, who did ‘Stuck in Love,’ is directing the movie, and I think I might—it’s still in negotiations—but I might be playing another role in the movie. [We're] still figuring it out. I’d love to be a part of it, just to work with Josh, and it’s a cool story.”

The obvious choice for Wolff would be Isaac, the cancer patient who lost both of his eyes and is Gus’ best friend.

Wolff starred in Boone’s Stuck in Love which is how he probably auditioned for Gus in the first place. We’re glad to see that Boone and producer Wyck Godfrey are still trying to have him be a part in The Fault in Our Stars. We really liked him in the role of Rusty, brother of Samantha (Lily Collins) and son of William (Greg Kinnear). Stuck in Love hits United States theaters July 5.

The Fault in Our Stars movie will begin shooting this August. The highly-anticipated adaptation of John Green’s beloved novel stars Elgort as Gus and Shailene Woodley as Tris. The two are currently shooting another book to film, Divergent by Veronica Roth, in Chicago.

Thanks, Hollywood Crush.

Mehhhhhh not feelin’ it. Maybe it’s just me, but I totally pictured him a frail, blond-haired kid… I dunno… like he’s described in the book?! C’mon casting director!!

    • Hmmm

Yes! I wrote a paragraph further up the page about it, personally I don’t like Ansel as Augustus either.

  • Lovisa Andersson

This could be good, I guess. As long as he’s a good actor he doesn’t have to look like he does in the book. Can’t wait for them to cast Isaac.

I agree, the physical attributes are really a secondary thing next to his acting ability. If they wanted to, they could change his look, but I don’t think it’s really necessary.

Wait… Nat Wolff. Like, Naked Brothers Band Nat Wolff? Wow, he’s sure grown up!

    • Malea

oh my god, I wondered why he was familiar! Nice catch haha!

Am i the only one who thinks hollywood is going overboard with these YA adaptations? The market is over saturated, and maybe that was one of the many reasons beautiful creatures and the host flopped. There are a slew of YA movies coming out this year and next year and i feel that some will perform poorly at the box office, everything can’t be a massive success.

    • http://benchpressabear.tumblr.com Joan

I think it helps when one stops putting the YA label on the stories and just view them as films.

      • zara

I’m wondering how they will market all these adaptations, especially divergent since it is already being called THG 2.0

        • Tygridia

I hate the whole “The new xxx”, “xxx 2.0″. Jeez, how can they even compare different stories by different authors and from different subgenres like that. I don’t know if marketer are dumb (I am studying marketing) or they just think we are! #RantOver

It doesn’t help that a lot of the adaptions simply aren’t well done. There always seems to be something wrong be it the script, acting, or directing.

Loved him in Stuck in Love!

  • Laura Palmer ≈

Personally, I imagined Gus as looking a little bit like a younger Hank Green? In any case, I don’t think that it matters what they look like as long as they’re a good actor, can bring the character to life well and look the right age.

“The highly-anticipated adaptation of John Green’s beloved novel stars Elgort as Gus and Shailene Woodley as Tris.”

You guys mean Hazel, not Tris (the character Woodley plays in Divergent).

    • Glaciusx

      And so it begins.

I approve! Mainly because I pictured Isaac as Martin Starr (as Bill from Freaks & Geeks), and I can sort of see it in this Nat Wolff person. Plus he looks like he could be Ansel’s best friend. I can pictured him fitting in perfectly with Shai and Ansel, actually.

  • Amanda Cora

I can see it. He really seems to have come out of nowhere with all the movies he’s been racking up. Well I mean, as out of nowhere as he can be having been in a band with a Nick tv show…

  • http://xyue-mayx.deviantart.com/ Dreamer

You know… I can kinda see it. I really didn’t have one in mind, as long as they’re a good actor. Issac is a very complex character and it’s a difficult role.

  • Lovisa Andersson

Josh Boone just shared this article on his Tumblr. Confirmed???

  • Hmm

Not happy at all. I don’t mind when a book is created into a movie and there are some minor changes but Isaac is described (by Hazel literally on page 6) to have long blonde hair slightly covering his eye… this guy is the complete opposite.
