Grey’s Anatomy star Tina Majorino will be joining The Veronica Mars Movie providing a much needed dose of Mac to the cast.
The Veronica Mars Movie executive producer and director Rob Thomas announced that Majorino will be reprising her role as Cindy “Mac” Mackenzie. Majorino was a series regular throughout the show and was beloved by fans. Mac was one of Veronica’s (Kristen Bell) only female friends throughout the series who was handy with computers. Majorino has since been seen on Grey’s Anatomy as Heather Brooks, True Blood as Molly, “Bones” as Genevieve Shaw, and Big Love as Heather Tuttle. Majorino also appeared in Napoleon Dynamite as Deb among other credits. She will next be seen on TNT’s Legends with Sean Bean.
Thomas announced the return of Majorino with a sweet statement recapping for fans how he first met her. Majorino first emailed Thomas in 1996 asking him questions about his novel RATS SAW GOD and wished him good luck going into TV and film. Thomas admitted that he wrote the role of Mac with Majorino in mind.
“I really wanted Tina in Veronica Mars. To say I wrote Mac with Tina in mind would be an understatement. I wrote Mac for Tina, and Tina only. Veronica needed a female friend, and a Q to her Bond. Tina felt like just the sort of girl that Veronica would like and respect. I couldn’t be more pleased that she’ll be with us for the movie.”
Majorino joins Bell, Jason Dohring, Enrico Colantoni, Percy Daggs III, Chris Lowell, Christine Larkin, Francis Capra, Daran Norris, Amanda Noret, and Sam Huntington.
Ryan Hansen’s status has not been announced. Hansen played Dick Casablancas on the UPN series and appeared in the Kickstarter video. Hansen’s character has been connected to Majorino’s character by fans since the show has aired. It will be interesting to see whether Hansen appears in The Veronica Mars Movie and what his interactions with Majorino turn out to be.
Are you excited for The Veronica Mars Movie? Who else do you want to see? Are you hoping that Hansen joins?
