Is your ship not listed? We’ll be on the lookout for ships we missed via the Disqus comments. Sometimes it’s tough to remember all the ships in a series, so please don’t blame us for missing some! If you think we’ve missed your OTP then you are more than welcome to nominate your ship in the Disqus comments.

Please use the following format: “Nomination: character/character” so we know you’re actually nominating someone. If a user nomination in the disqus comments receives more up votes than any poll option, it will become the winner.

Sudden Death

In the past tournament we held a sudden death round in the event that two couples are within 100 votes of each other. We’ll definitely be bringing sudden death back into the mix, but not until after the nominations are over. These polls alone will take two and a half weeks to continue onwards to the tournament, and 24 hours is sudden death enough as it is!

We apologize if you were looking forward to sudden death this round, but we hope that you let your fandom know the date they’re going up for nominations! This way you’ll be prepared when the poll comes up on Hypable.

So tell us, who did you vote for?

  • LesShipper

    Nomination: Bella/Alice

  • http://blackrapture.tumblr.com/ thegoodshipdestiel

Honestly what Garrett says to Kate before the final battle (or anti-climax rather) always chokes me up.

  • http://codeforconfession.wordpress.com/ Kristen L.

C’mon, Bella/Jacob!! I was shipping them hard after reading New Moon. Bella never gave him a chance. :(

  • Lotte

Team College: can you please add this? ;)

  • http://ravenclaw1991.tumblr.com/ ravenclaw1991

Alice/Jasper.. Alice is my favourite character even though I don’t really care for Twilight that much. Jasper is pretty cool too.

  • Gary65

Ugh. I know this is a very unpopular opinion but I. HATE. RON!!!!!! He’s the worst character in Harry Potter. I’m sorry but I just can’t vote for him, even if he is paired up with my 2nd fave character. He’s awful. I love HP but there’s no way I’m voting for it now, regardless of who they’re up against.

    • PabloRuiz7

Oh man, why do you him so much? I love him! Not movie Ron. Ron was neglected and forgotten in the movies, but Book Ron is the best!

      • Gary65

Because he’s awful. Spiteful, jealous, insecure, spoilt, stupid, self-centred, rude, blind, useless, greedy, narrow-minded, apathetic, pathetic. The list is endless. If you subtract the chess scene from book 1, he doesn’t have a single shining moment in the whole series. I haaaaaaaaaaate him. I’m willing & able to give whole thesis on my hatred of Ron but this comment would be paragraphs long so I’m not sure it’d be appropriate. I’ll type it if you’re up for reading it :)

        • PabloRuiz7

Oh my, you really do hate him! I’ll read it, I’m mystified! Also, don’t you think saving Harry/Destroying the locket kinda counts as a shining moment?

          • Gary65

No I don’t cos it was a total accident that he even found Harry drowning and Harry let him destroy the locket. There was no sacrifice, no growth, no nothing. Just insight into how self-centred he truly is.

Anyway, onto my argument. Right from the start, we are told that Ron is from a poor background. And yet this is in stark contrast to his actual life. He has a warm home, is well fed, has a loving family etc. His life is put into stark contrast with people like Harry & Hermione. Harry spent most of his life being treated as less than human & Hermione lived life as a muggle. Ron lived the lap of luxury by comparison. And it shows in DH. An examination of the time between events puts Ron’s time on the road to be about a month before he quit. Now most people would put this down to the locket but that’s a cheap excuse. Harry & Hermione wore the locket for the same amount of time as him and neither of them had a meltdown.

Maybe the Weasleys didn’t have the best social standing but only 3 people in the whole series ever made a big deal out of this: Draco(his mortal enemy), Percy(a douche) & Ron himself(an even bigger douche). The locket exacerbates what’s already in there(It’s not that different to vampirism in TVD in a way). Ron’s behaviour highlights just how spoilt and self-centred he is. It also highlights his trust issues. It’s clear that he didn’t truly trust Harry & believed he was keeping information to himself. It also shows in his treatment of Hermione. The only person stupid enough to believe that there was ever anything between Harry & Hermione was Ron. Even in HBP, when there was no locket, he couldn’t see Hermione’s feelings, despite how obvious she made them.

In fact, Ron’s extreme personality issues go back even further. With the exception of books 2 & 5, Ron is on bad terms with Harry and/or Hermione in every book. Despite everything they’ve gone through, he still doesn’t trust or support them. His behaviour in books 4 & 6 in particularly poor. After everything Harry did for him, the fact that he didn’t know Harry well enough to know he wouldn’t put his name in the goblet is shameful. And blind dingbats could tell how Hermione felt about Ron but he couldn’t. Not only was he too cowardly to do the right thing(by Hermione or Lavender) and make reparations but he never even apologized. How she married him is beyond me.

This even goes to the most remote of situations. Remember in GoF when faux-Moody said both Hermione & Harry would make good aurors? Then Ron started spewing nonsense & fishing for a similar compliment. How childish can you get?

I could go on further but he’s really not worth the effort. In short Ron is an awful character with zero redemptive qualities that rise above a decent sense of humor. Just…………..bleugh

          • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

I totally agree with almost everything you said, but I just have to point out that this line – “The only person stupid enough to believe that there was ever anything between Harry & Hermione was Ron” – is false. In Goblet of Fire, when Rita Skeeter kept making up fake articles and said that Hermione was toying with Harry’s feelings, Molly Weasley believed it and treated Hermione terribly. Molly was very cold towards Hermione and gave her the smallest Easter egg, and she only warmed up to her once Harry explained that the stories were lies.

          • Gary65

True but Molly had only met Hermione in passing the Summer before 3rd Year and only spent proper time with her the previous Summer(all in all they knew each other for a few months). Even then, she barely knew her. How well do you know your friends’ mothers? The two were still practically strangers and Molly had no first hand experience with Harry & Hermione’s relationship. The relationship Molly had with them & the relationship Ron had with them do not equate. Justin Finch-Flethley would be in a better position to quantify their relationship than Mrs. Weasley.

          • http://twitter.com/JonHike jghike

This is brilliant. I love it!

          • PabloRuiz7

Hahahaa you have some pretty good points! Also, my favorite parts are: “And blind dingbats could tell how Hermione felt about Ron but he couldn’t” & “The only person stupid enough to believe that there was ever anything between Harry & Hermione was Ron.”….You’re even better than Emerson calling Harmony shippers “delusional”

          • Gary65

I don’t know in what universe anyone ever thought that ship would float but it sure as hell isn’t this one.

Then again, I think Heron should be hunted into extinction but I seem to be in the minority there.

  • Gary65

Carlisle & Esme is the only healthy relationship up there so they get my vote.

  • Elliot Burford

    I haven’t read/seen Twilight,but I’m voting Edward/Jacob.
That would definitely make me read it!!

  • http://www.eigakanthemovietheater.blogspot.com Jenny Leigh

Alice and Jasper were hands down the best couple in the books, and the most interesting. Although I can’t say I’m in the Twilight fandom, I think if they won it would be fabulous and I would vote for their ship :)

  • I<3Books

When I was reading the fourth book, Garrett and Kate were the only couple I was rooting for. And Bella and Edward are painfully cliché.

  • hpfan101

The word epic should NEVER have been used to describe this saga. Never.

    • Merina

A hater like you should NEVER have commented with such a rude insult against another fandom during their Battleships voting period. Never.

      • hpfan101

The truth is harsh. Deal with it.

    • http://tyrionical.tumblr.com/ Kyle

I don’t know, that battle scene in the last movie was pretty epic. :P

      • Merina

        Thank you, Kyle!

Plus, you know, the occasional world records the series has broken are pretty epic in my humble opinion…world records are just kind of like that, you know :P

        • hpfan101

And yet, it didn’t take much time for other much more deserving films to beat these so called “world records” and leave them in the dust where they belong. Then there’s also the fact that this is a battleship for the books and not the films so your argument is invalid.

          • http://tyrionical.tumblr.com/ Kyle

Errr the book battle was as equally epic as the movie’s!

  • guest

Edward/Alice should be nominated. They had cute brother/sister relationship in the books that wasn’t even touched on in the movies

  • LooKat

Ok…so how have I already missed the time to vote? Glitch?!

    • Karen Rought

Try refreshing and/or clearing your cookies/cache. It happens sometimes, but voting is definitely still open.

  • ZofTheTwiHard

I went with the obvious one – Bella/Edward. I just love them :) They should represent, because they’re what everyone recognises the Saga by. They already do represent it in the world, so why not here? :D

  • Merina

Come on, Jalice! They have the most precious, opposites-attract relationship :)

  • Kat

I’m not a big fan of the saga, but one of the parts I actually liked was the Jacob/Leah relationship.

  • SnatcherGirl

    Jacob/Edward BECAUSE I CAN. And it’s amusing.

  • Jill

Edward and Bella seem the obvious choice but I love Rosalie and Emmett. So, that is who I voted for.

  • gryff21

I just have to say that 24 hours is too small a window for voting. Not everyone can always make it on in time to vote every single day.

  • shriyanshi

edward/bella are made for each other so thats why they recieve my vote

  • a

    Nomination: jasper/Emmett

  • Abster

what about Renesme and Jacob? I mean, come on..

  • ShiningStar

Alice/Jasper ! Without any hesitation ! They are a true, pure love.
