Percy Jackson author Rick Riordan will be attending Book Expo America at the end of the month. Today, he reveals what you can expect from his appearance.
On his blog, Riordan states that he’s been hearing a lot of rumors about what he may or may not be up to when he goes to BEA at the end of May. To clear the air a little bit, he decided to let everyone in on what exactly he’ll be doing while he’s at the convention.
In the ‘definitely true’ category, we can expect him to attend the annual Disney Publishing dinner for booksellers and media on Thurday night, May 30. Other Disney authors will be there, but it’s an invitation only event and not open to the public. However, he promises to give a full report once he’s back home.
Next up, he will be speaking at the Children’s Book and Author Breakfast on Friday morning, joined by Mary Pope Osborne and Veronica Roth. Octavia Spencer will be hosting them. While this isn’t an invitation only event, tickets are required. If you don’t have tickets, you won’t be able to listen to the authors speak.
In addition to talking about his projects and the publishing industry in general, Riordan will also be revealing the cover of The House of Hades. After the event, the cover will go up online for everyone to see. After the breakfast Riordan will be signing paperback copies of The Serpent’s Shadow at table 15 in the Javits Center.
Passes are required to attend BEA. You can find out more on their website.
In the ‘definitely not true’ category, Riordan says he will not be doing an event that’s open to non-BEA attendees. He’s also not giving out any advanced reading copies of House of Hades because he doesn’t want any of the story to be spoiled before the October 8 release date. Lastly, there will be no sneak peeks prior to the one inserted into the e-single of The Son of Sobek, due out June 18.
Riordan promises that as soon as he knows his tour schedule for House of Hades, he will let everyone know what his stops are. Until then, he’s busy editing House of Hades for its October release date.
