Glee season 4 has come and gone (can you believe it!?) and we’re looking back on the season and picking our top 10 songs/performances!

Though some of these might be debatable, do know that a lot of time and effort went in to tallying up our votes and choosing the best performances of Glee season 4! Let us know what you think in the comments below. Did one of your favorites miss the cut?

UPDATE: Not sure how we let “The Scienstist” slip by our radar! Here it is:

10. Don’t Stop Believin’

Glee fans new and old had chills when Rachel was auditioning for Fanny Brice in Funny Girl only to be joined by a flashback of her glee club days at McKinley.

9. Some Nights

Though this performance didn’t pack the same punch that “We Are Young” did, this fun. inspired performance lived up to the original band’s name!

8. Oops I Did It Again

Consider this the “Rachel’s all grown up” performance of season 4. Sexy, fun, and unique! We loved it!

7. Let Me Love You

If there’s any doubt that Jacob Artist isn’t one of the most talented people on Glee, check out this performance and get back to us.

6. Cold Hearted

Santana showed the NYADA dance company how it’s done in this eye-popping performance very similar to Rachel’s “Oops I Did It Again” performance.

5. Holy Night

Gleeks had this song on their iPod for years, but Rachel saved the beauty of the song for this season. This performance was one of the most beautiful solos we’ve ever seen on Glee!

4. This Is the New Year

The Glee kids broke the fourth wall in a way at the end of the episode this song was featured in, but we ate it up! And the video of the original artists, A Great Big World, reacting to seeing their song on Glee is almost just as good!

3. Homeward Bound / Home

In what was the first mini-reunion of original members in season 4, this song really locked in the sentimental value of performances that makes Glee shine. It was also one of the better mashups of the season as well!

2. Girl On Fire

There wasn’t a more dramatic moment in a performance this season than when Santana kicked down the doors and arrived in New York City in one of the last choruses of this very powerful song! Fans have wanted it to happen and their wishes came true!

1. Teenage Dream

Blaine Anderson sitting at a piano singing his heart out with tears in his eyes gave us all the feels. We all knew what was coming after this. A brilliant and moving live performance gets the No.1 spot of the season for sure.

    Teenage Dream… lol

    Teenage Dream <3 <3

lol teenage dream but no Scientist? Even HeMo sounded good on The Scientist. Bye to all your credibility.

      Its called an opinion.

      • mtlss

        Agree with Simone, jeez Lana.

  • Stuartk

It should speak volumes that in the entire 4th season only 3 songs made it onto Billboard’s Hot 100 at all. That being said those were clearly the best/most well-received songs of the season and should be numbers 1-3. Let Me Love You hit 91 as did The Scientist. It’s Time made it to 95.

Thank you for putting Teenage Dream on it!!! The Scientist would also be one of mine, but I 100% agree with these choices! <3

The Scientist needs to be on here 100%.

  • looove klaine

    teenage dream <3 <3 <3

  • http://twitter.com/Dillon_Mays Dillon Mays

I only agree with number three.

Teenage Dream is no number 1. That was too uncomfortable and ear-splitting to enjoy well.

You should see a doctor – have them make sure you still have a heart :(

      • http://twitter.com/Dillon_Mays Dillon Mays

I’m allowed to have my own opinion.

    • http://twitter.com/StarkidSims Simone

The fact that it made you uncomfortable is why it was a good performance, it was SUPPOSED to make you uncomfortable.

      • http://twitter.com/Dillon_Mays Dillon Mays

No, it was uncomfortable because of his face and the song in general. I’ve never liked the song so the piano version doesn’t do it for me.

Even though I’ve kinda been hating on this season, I just watched these again and remembered how awesome Glee can be :D :D

Reading over the comments, I just have to point out that this is centered around the best performances, not necessarily the best songs of the season. While I do agree that the performance of “The Scientist” was incredible, I think that all of the songs on this list are incredible performances, and all remind of why I fell in love with Glee in the first place. When Glee is done right, it has a way of reaching out and touching your heart, whether with utter joy (“This is the New Year”), awe (“O Holy Night”), love (“Let Me Love You”), or even heartbreak (“Teenage Dream”).

And I just have to say /mini rant starting/ yes, Teenage Dream sounds rough, and isn’t as perfect as the original. But that was the point. That is why they allowed Darren to sing it live. If you’re a singer, and you’ve ever tried singing while upset in the slightest, it becomes incredibly hard because of how your throat tightens. I actually would have been more upset if the track had been smooth and hadn’t had those vocal cracks, because it wouldn’t have been realistic /end of mini rant/

Those who disagree with this list should check out http://www.hollywood.com/news/tv/55012311/glee-season-four-top-ten-performances-songs?page=1
They had almost all of mine!

  • http://twitter.com/StarkidSims Simone

I probably would’ve switched Holy Night with The Scientist and moved Teenage Dream down a tiny bit but other than that great choices :D

  • thecamishirt

    Let’s Have a Kiki!

    • http://twitter.com/StarkidSims Simone

      I wanna have a Kiki!

  • lorepottter

For me Teenage Dream wasnt number 1, that was for Girl on Fire

  • Kalie Riemer

My favorite is #4, This is the New Year! I love the original version of that song and A Great Big World’s lyric video for it – http://smarturl.it/GBWNewYear

  • Phantomfluteplayer

I absolutely loved “Girl on Fire.” It was my favorite performance of the season.

  • Lotte

Being Alive – My favorite song as with as epic with subtle notions. You only need Kurt, a stage, a great song and voila.

Otherwise, I loved 2 and 3. The others were good, but not my personal favorite.

  • Tomas

I do think this is list is missing the scientist, and I think Blaine’s teenage dream is way overrated, the emotion in the song ruined the song

  • Grace

Both Teenage Dream (this season’s version) and especially Oops I Did It Again were terrible…agree with some of these (like Some Nights) but most of these weren’t that great of performances…I personally loved ones like Footloose, Next to Me, New York State of Mind, and Born to Hand Jive a lot more than any of these.

I really wish At the Ballet was on here. I know some people thought it was too long, but ah, Naya Rivera was perfection on a really awesome song.

For me, The Scientist was the most moving performance of the year, and I agree with some of your choices. But one you left out which really delivered in “performance” terms was How to be a Heartbreaker, an incredible dance number. The choreography, photography, editing and performances were fantastic, and the song is a killer. It also told a story, about Brody’s “gigolo” bent and his ambivalence toward it. Too, this had one of the greatest settings Glee has ever shown. The fictional New York hotel was actually the Biltmore in downtown Los Angeles, an older hotel where I’ve stayed before, and a beautiful setting for the number’s many dancers to do their thing. Guess I’m the only one who appreciated it that much, but for me, what a great, great performance.

    • Marie

I really liked it too! I personally would’ve chosen it over Let Me Love You (it sounded pretty, but visually, I was so bored. Also, you know, Jarley kind of makes me zone out. :-P)

  • Strumchick

I’m gonna be frank here. I’m bored of Rachel and Blaine singing EVERYTHING! My favorites are Some Nights and Home/Homeward Bound. A a joke someone should have put Let’s Have a Kiki/Turkey lurkey up there.
