The penultimate episode of Once Upon a Time‘s second season just finished airing! Share your thoughts and watch the promo for the season finale.

In Once Upon a Time season 2, episode 21 “Second Star to the Right,” we flashed back to when Bae first arrived in our world, in Victorian-era London.

Here he met Wendy Darling, and journeyed with her to Neverland. Thus we learned how Neal managed to stay young for so long, and how he met Captain Hook.

In the present day, Tamara and Greg tortured Regina for information about Greg’s father, and Emma went searching for her.

Only one episode remains now: the season finale, “And Straight on ‘Til Morning”! Although no official summary has yet been released by ABC, we have to assume that the Peter Pan related title means that the flashbacks pick up where we left off – although maybe they’ll show events from another perspective?!

Check out the promo, which aired after tonight’s episode:

Although there’s been no official word yet, we’d be very surprised if Once Upon a Time wasn’t picked up for a third season.

What are your predictions for the season finale? And did you like “Second Star to the Right”? Share your thoughts in the comments.

What did you think about ‘Once Upon a Time’ season 2, episode 21?

shooting myself in the heart would have been less painful.

    • http://www.facebook.com/SarahTipton Sarah Tipton

      Accurate.

  • http://twitter.com/Dillon_Mays Dillon Mays

It was a pretty decent episode. The effects in particular. However, this episode and the promo don’t seem as climactic as it was last year. Last year we had long-term arcs ending in the finale while these arcs don’t even reach half the season. It just seems a bit of a let down from last year.

    However, it’s still going good.

    • http://benchpressabear.tumblr.com Joan

Completely agree. This season has definitely lacked cohesiveness and the finale is going to suffer because of that. The beginning of the season (well, up until Ep. 16) centered around Cora. That left 5 episodes until the finale with Greg and Tamara as the big bad. They are just not strong enough characters to pull that climatic feel. There hasn’t been enough build up and now there’s no time left.

  • http://twitter.com/JonHike jghike

It’s obvious that Regina has to go to the Hatch to deal with the failsafe. So Season 3 will be full of flash sideways to a world without magic. And we will find out that Tamara and Greg are working for the bad guys from Zero Hour. You’re so clever ABC!

  • WillowBlood

Let me first start off by saying I do not think Neal is dead. (Or maybe I just don’t want to think he’s dead, because I am one of the few Swan Thief shippers on Tumblr.) I’m assuming that somehow, some of the characters are transported to Neverland next episode, and that’s where Neal ended up.

Also, assuming you can’t age in Neverland, could Neal’s gunshot wound not kill him? Because that would be great.

    Now, to some more stuff.

I really, honestly hate Greg and Tamara. One does not simply torture Regina and shoot Neal.

And this whole Rumple/Lacey thing is really, REALLY pissing me off. I mean, really. I don’t feel the need to explain myself on this one. It’s pretty clear why.

Now, Emma and Neal declaring their love for each other as the void swirled below them was cheesy, but I still kind of exploded because OTP. Once again, I refuse to accept Neal is dead, because, just, no. It doesn’t make sense. It would be a bit more dramatic if he actually died, I think.

They brushed off the plot point around Greg’s dad pretty quickly… I think that might come back later.

I’m not crying because I am using logic and telling myself that Neal is not dead, and cannot be dead, but that’s the only reason. Great episode. 10/10 would recommend.

    • http://benchpressabear.tumblr.com Joan

I already hated Tamara’s character (because I think the acting and her story-line sucks, but that’s another topic), but when she actually had the NERVE to shot Neal, I kind of went off! *insert plenty of explicit language here*

I’m usually not into overly cheesy dialogue, but I thought that Emma, finally admitting still loves Neal, was so incredible! It was a winning moment for the series and, of course, for Emma as a character.

Neal is alive. There’s no way they would kill Neal off-camera. Rumple is going to unleash on Gremara. UNLEASH, Rumple! *shakes fist in air*

      • http://twitter.com/rosaliedavid12 Rosalie David

Lets get #unleashrumple to trend for the season finale, I like it

    • http://www.twitter.com/starlysh Lysh

      Neal isn’t dead.

  • http://twitter.com/RikuStark Ashley

If Neal was actually dead I think we would’ve seen him die. I hope he isn’t dead! I love his character.

    • http://benchpressabear.tumblr.com Joan

He went through a portal. I’m 99.9% he is alive. He just has to survive there until he can be saved. I mean, Rumple isn’t going to take this well. Gremara better prepare themselves! I also love Neal’s character, and I’m rooting for Emma, Henry and him. :)

  • El

Isn’t there another magic bean left with Tamara?

  • theaterboy1

Loved the flashbacks with Bae and the Darlings. I hate that they lost Neal in present day and I hope they find him again and he is still alive. The season finale will definitely be interesting!!

    • http://benchpressabear.tumblr.com Joan

      Indeed, my friend. Indeed.

  • j

What is there to say? This show is all over the place. I like that Neverland isn’t a good place at night and that the Lost Boys are prisoners there. That was a nice twist. I also loved the little details (Nana, the umbrella and the weapons the boys had while waiting in the room).

That said, I hated just about every other part of the episode. I’m not a Neal/Emma shipper. So, I’m really hoping that somehow Neal finds his way back to the Darlings and marries Wendy or stays dead. I just can’t see how Emma would forgive him (old love or not) for getting her put into jail for his crime. That just doesn’t match the personality of the character we met in S1. I don’t care how much their characters have “grown” these past two seasons. It’s just crappy writing. ALTHOUGH…. that said, I loved the fact that he had to let go of her hand just as his father let go of his. I think (I hope) that we’ll find out that Rumple let go of Bae’s hand because he can’t get rid of the Dark One’s power and not simply because he was being cowardly or selfish. If so, then that makes the parallel seasons cool beyond belief.

I’m openly admit to being a Rumple/Emma “GoldenSwan” shipper. So… I hated the Lacey parts. I understand where there going with it. After all, if Lacey is Belle’s dark side and it’s also attracted to Gold then that’s suggesting that Belle really is attracted to both sides of Rumplestiltskin (which goes against everything they told us about her character in S1). I don’t care if Lacey is dark. It doesn’t matter. David was an adulterer as his alternate, yet there was nothing to suggest that “Charming” would ever do such a thing. Given that fact, it’s hard to believe that “Belle” would be able to accept any part of Rumple’s evil. She wants only the good. That would be fine except for the fact that what happens if he can’t let go of that power? I still think the writers need to spend more time with Emma — showing us exactly what she had to go through growing up and helping us to understand her emotions and drive. She’s even more all over the place then the episode. One minute she’s tough and the next she’s soft and the next she’s uncertain and the next she’s confident. That is, of course, when she actually gets screen time.

I’m also dissatisfied how the writers handled the “leaving Storybrooke” theme. I get why the townspeople would want to go home, but Season 2 was less about the townspeople dealing with their dual lives and the world beyond Storybrooke as just people and too much about fighting old foes from their old world and setting up why living on Earth is bad. What made this show great in S1 was the alternate personas and the flashbacks to their previous lives. What made it great was the implied promise of seeing these characters have to deal with lives as themselves, and their alternate personas, beyond the Enchanted Forest and even Storybrooke.

This show has the “Lost” syndrome of overloading us with new plots and too many extra characters. Emma still feels like a secondary character. In fact, I think we saw more of the Charmings in this episode then we did of her.

I don’t know. I appreciated “jghhike’s” comment below about “The Hatch” more than I did this episode.

    • b

I agree (except I proudly ship Captain Swan haha). I did love the Neverland bits but I wasn’t exactly fond of everything else.

    • Melissa

I don’t think he could go back to the Darlings or Wendy. They’d all be long dead by now, wouldn’t they?

  • http://twitter.com/Hmarjus2 Martrel A. Howard

THIS EPISODE PISSED ME OFFFFF!!! You Broke Emma’s heart AGAIN! SHOT NEIL and sent him to Another world. YOu made Peter Pan’s shadow EVIL, and now Greg and Tamara have the fail safe ARRRRRRGH.

The Emma / Tamara fight was good though cant wait to see the real battle between them.

Im over Rumpel and Lacey… bring back Belle already Lacey is ugh shes not even evil shes just a biotch.

I found it to be very telling that Henry was mentioned in the episode but wasnt seen at all. He’s a lurker lol no getting around that so im sure he’s overheard or seen something. It would suck and be awesome if Henry was hiding under the cannery and got sucked into the ohter world with Neil. other

  • http://benchpressabear.tumblr.com Joan

Basically, Tamara and Greg are the lamest villains ever! It sucks for me that I’m not interested IN THE LEAST in them. I don’t feel the impeding threat a villain is supposed to inflict. Telling me I have to fear them isn’t getting the job done. I just see them as an inconvenience.

I feel there hasn’t been enough build up for the season finale because more than half of the season was use to develop Cora’s arc and led to her EPIC death. I doubt they can top that in the finale with these two fools.

    • hpboy13

Yeah, honestly, Cora’s death was true finale material, and I feel like all the episodes since have been filler. Can’t bring myself to care about Tamara and Greg. Though I’m very intrigued by the Shadow and Neverland!

  • biancabz

Nah, Neal isn’t dead. I’m sure the portal took him to the Enchanted Forest. As for Peter’s shadow (I haven’t seen the 1953 Peter Pan version in forever) but wasn’t his shadow completely different than Peter himself, like personality wise and everything? So I’m guessing only Peter’s shadow is the evil one and the boy is probably nice and everything as we hope to be (which we’ll probably see next season).

I don’t really understand Tamara’s role in the show at all but my theory is that the Darlings began this “home office”, specifically Wendy. However this episode was fantastic and I can’t wait to see how they explore Neverland!

    • jozefd14

that theory that Wendy would be the source of the “home office”.. she must be an old woman by now…

      • http://forgiveyourmind.tumblr.com/ Kyle

        That would be amazing!

      • http://benchpressabear.tumblr.com Joan

        …Possibly a corpse.

      • Melissa

I think they ment she could have started it and then it just kept running after she died.

      • http://twitter.com/taylie27 Taylore Thompson

All I want is if we see an older Wendy they better get Maggie Smith to fill the role

  • http://twitter.com/HungerSlytherin Jeremy

I really loved this episode. It kept me on the edge of my seat. I love the whole Evil Shadow. Here are some of my thoughts about the episode.

    A) I love how they dropped him in London and The Darling Family was adorable. (Michael totally looked like a tiny Harry potter) I really loved how Bae was so protective of them cause he really had no family to protect in the Enchanted forest. That Shadow was just creepy. If it came to my window I would not go with it. I really love the concept of NEVERland and how the boys are Not allowed to leave. My question is where is Peter and is he evil like his Shadow ?

    B) Why Does no one Trust Emma? She’s the Sheriff in town and also SAVED them all from the curse. This “Believers” organization make me wonder Who are they and who is invovled and runs them. Personally I don’t think it can be Wendy she would be dead by now. That scene with Emma and Neil killed me and I really hope he doesn’t go to Neverland and Shows up with Aurora and Mulan.

    All in all this was a great Episode and I’m so excited to see The finale. If I remember correctly Season 2 was picked up right before Season 1 ended so I have a feeling we will here good news about Season 3 soon.;

    • http://www.facebook.com/kevin.landeen Kevin Landeen

I certainly hope it is renewed. . . This was an AMAZING episode that had me on the edge of my seat. I loved the Neverland twist, that it is not a happy place. I’m guessing, like someone else mentioned, that Wendy or another Darling started the home office…

      • Lucy Hopko

Lana Parilla already tweeted about the start date of filming for season three

    • http://www.facebook.com/stephieotto Stephanie Otto

I agree with you, but you might be onto something here, if Bae/Neal is still young and all, why can’t Wendy maybe she went back to Neverland to find him, and now runs this whole organization! Afterall, they make VERY strong female characters in this show, like making Jack being a woman and all…
Also I’m still waiting for Ariel to show up already, they have mentioned mermaids before, WHERE IS SHE?!

  • http://forgiveyourmind.tumblr.com/ Kyle

I’m so not a fan of how they turned Peter Pan into an evil shadow.

    • Melissa

Maybe we haven’t met the actual Peter Pan yet? In the Disney film, Peter lost his shadow and needed it “sewn” to him in order to control it. The shadow was really mischievous and tried to get away from Peter. Maybe Peter has lost his shadow and it’s up to evil doings? I dunno. It would just upset me a lot if that’s how they intend to portray him.

      • http://forgiveyourmind.tumblr.com/ Kyle

Agreed! I really hope it’s just his shadow and not Peter. I can’t wait for them to expand on this next season! Edit: How awesome would it be if the portal took Bae to Neverland again?! Then he could get Peter’s help against Hook.

        • Danielle

Oh! That’s seriously an amazing idea and I hope you’re both right. Makes me feel a lot better because I love the story of Peter Pan and he is one of my favorite characters. I was really sad that he was being portrayed as a villain. But I’m going to hold on to that theory as hope haha

      • Lucy Hopko

I like this theory a lot! I love the twist though because it was so fresh and so new compared to old versions of Peter Pan

    • Fariboles

As some have pointed out, maybe this wasn’t Peter (I would certainly be pissed if it was): when Bae first arrives in London, a sign that reads “Kensington Gardens” is very clearly shown. Now that’s where Peter lives as a baby in the original prequel, after having left his mother and before going to Neverland. I like to think this is supposed to mean that Bae is a sort of Peter : maybe he will get rid of the evil shadow and take care of the lost boys for a while when he escapes from the pirates

  • Alex

if they make Peter Pan evil (MY FAVORITE fairy tale character) I’M GOING TO BE SO PISSED OFF!! >I:(

    • Kalie

Agreed. I grew up listening to stories about Peter Pan. He’s my absolute favorite. They can’t just ruin that character for me. I was so looking forward to these episodes, but now I’m not so sure…

    • phantomoca

They made SHADOW evil, not Peter… Shadow was ALWAYS mischievous even in the animated version

  • Anna S.

He isn’t dead, okay? He isn’t. NEAL IS NOT DEAD. It was barely even fatal wound….I’m in anguish.
I still don’t think Owen’s dad is dead. I think he is still around. That was too easy.
Lines that tore my heart out: “You found your Tahlahassee with someone else.” “Michael!” “He’s gone.” Oh, Emma…(when she gets arrested in Tahlahassee, she says that about Neal too.)
The Darlings were, how do I say this, darling!

  • Nell Hepburn

I totally had a crackpot theory that the “shadow” was really (somehow) Milah, maybe it was her as a wraith or something I have no idea, and that the reason the shadow was stealing BOYS was because Milah had a son (Bae). I know this isn’t likely as 1) Milah wasn’t very maternal and b) it just doesn’t, but I thought it was still hilarious xDD

  • http://twitter.com/marypao Mary

Anyone else think of the Paladins from “Jumper” when Gregg & Tamara talked about their secret organization trying to wipe out magic?
Thought it was a good episode but really hate Lacey. I wonder if Rumple knows she’s working with Gregg?

  • https://twitter.com/JassyPugh Jasmine P

My reaction to the episode can be summed up by me crying out NO! NO! WHY? WHY? BAE! BAE! during the credits, and then when the Kitsis/Horowitz Productions Logo came up, I said “I HATE YOU!”

  • http://twitter.com/StarkidSims Simone

Even if Wendy is dead it doesn’t mean she wasn’t the founder

  • http://twitter.com/StarkidSims Simone

Also oh wow now Emma and Bae/Neal need to find each other. Here we go again….

  • Zoe

There’s no way that Neal’s dead. That would just be cheap to kill him off-camera.

I think that Hook is Peter Pan, and the Shadow is keeping him imprisoned on Neverland OR that Hook is trying to find his Shadow and that’s why he’s on his whole ship thing. Ooh! Or that he’s just trying to rescue the lost boys and WE WERE TOTALLY WRONG ABOUT HIM! (I don’t think Hook is bad, honestly)

And I would say that that was a crackpot theory, but on OUaT, anything can happen, so… Yeah :)

  • http://twitter.com/taylie27 Taylore Thompson

Did anyone else absolutely love the fantasyland commercial with Regina in it!?

  • http://twitter.com/Oz_out CaptainOzone

I had a theory that Bae would fuse with the Shadow, but… that would make him “Peter Pan,” and according to one of the last articles here, the producers/writers haven’t seen a correct theory yet. Considering that Bae-is-Peter was the biggest theory out there, that kinda makes my theory null and void.

  • Joan

I loved this episode! I really liked all the Neal/Emma scenes – I don’t think Neal has died I think he’s prob in FTL. But if Emma thinks he has died then I could see her getting together with Hook – which would keep all the CaptainSwan shippers happy! I can’t wait to see how Gold reacts when he finds out that Neal is gone – it could mean Henry is in even more danger as the only thing stopping Gold from killing Henry was Neal, or Gold could see Henry as his only link the Neal so he will do everything he can to keep Henry safe! Assuming Neal is in FTL I reckon a main story for S3 will be Neal trying to reunite with Emma and Henry. I can’t wait for next Sunday.

  • shadezero

I liked the take on Neverland.

  • Arial_29

Ok why in the world would they are the cuff off Regina and allow her to retain her magic. Also I’m getting real sick of Snow, their is a difference between having a good heart and being stupid.

  • xoxoKellyLee

Once has definitely been picked up for Season 3. My cousin works on the show and promised me that it was coming back when I freaked out saying that we hadn’t heard yet.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Alissa.Claire Alissa Roy

I have a feeling that somehow, Neal will end up with Aurora and Mulan. The writers dropped their story and they have to come back at some point in time. Maybe they will heal him… Just a thought.

  • WhatTheGrace

For some reason i found myself being very very interested in the the Bae, shadow, the Darlings and Neverland part of the show. It’s a very interesting take on the story. Although i was sort of annoyed with the fact that Neverland and Peter Pan were being portrayed in a negative way (especially as i love the original story) I like to think that the Shadow got away from the real Peter Pan, it was always trying to get away from Peter’s body, so i think we’re seeing how the shadow has manifested into something not so good, the only question i have is where is the actual Peter Pan, will Bae become Peter Pan? I’m intrigued!

Also i really love the final scene between Emma and Neal, i don’t think he’s dead – he can’t be!

  • http://www.facebook.com/stephieotto Stephanie Otto

I’ll say this again… I cant believe they “killed off” Bae/Neal! I’m sure that before Tamara and Greg detonate the trigger Emma and David/Charming will find a magical bean and go back (with the Storybrook citizens) to the Enchanted Forest, where Bae/Neal will be, and that’s where the 3rd season will take place! Now, Hook can have as many space in the series as it pleases, because he’s not only an eye-candy but he is the most interesting and layered character in the show.
