Once Upon a Time actor Michael Raymond-James, who plays Bae/Neal, gives some hints about the season 2 finale in a new interview.

Only two episodes remain of Once Upon a Time‘s second season. Their titles “Second Star to the Right” and “And Straight on ‘Til Morning” make it clear that they’ll be focusing on the Peter Pan story, and Bae will have a pivotal role to play – but how?

Speaking to HitFix, Raymond-James teases that Neal, “Has some bumps coming up. There is a lot of unfinished business coming up with Neal and Emma and his dad [Rumpelstiltskin/Mr. Gold].”

In the finale, we’ll see some of Neal’s issues resolved, while more present themselves. “I think Neal is gonna begin to sort of say, gosh, what do I do now?” Raymond-James says. “There’s a lot coming up that’s going to answer a lot of questions, but create new questions, too. We’re gonna get to see where we go from here, after what happens in the finale.”

As far as the Neal/Emma ship is concerned, the actor tells TV Line that while Neal still feels guilty for leaving Emma, “He felt he didn’t have a choice in the matter. I mean, we’re talking about her saving a townful of people that he grew up with, people from Fairytale Land. So in Neal’s mind, he jumped on a grenade in the name of the greater good.”

Finally, Zap2It has a featurette video about Baelfire, which includes a new season 2, episode 21 sneak peek.

“Neal is always going to have feelings for Emma, no matter what,” he says. “Those feelings can’t be put in a jar and set aside, you’re always carrying them with you. Neal is, anyway.”

Will Neal and Emma move closer to rekindling their romance in the final two episodes of the season?!

Once Upon a Time season 2, episode 21 “Second Star to the Right” airs Sunday at 8/7c on ABC.

Eh, don’t see Emma and Neal getting back together, at least this season anyway. It’ll feel too rushed. I mean, Neal left Emma in the worst time possible. I don’t think she’ll be taking him back anytime soon. Plus it’s seeming like he just wants closure with her, nothing more..

If Bae was in neverland, did he see his mom there? Since she was with Hook. Does he know his dad killed his mom? Maybe that’s part of the “unfinished business”.

Though I don’t think Bae knows Rumple killed Milah, I supposed Bae did saw her mom there…which would at least explain why Milah didn’t even bother to ask Rumple for her son before he killed her. Maybe she already knew Bae wasn’t with Rumple.

Milah is one of the few characters on this show I have a hard time feeling sympathy for because, whatever her reasons, she still left Bae behind and picked Hook and adventure over him. Let’s see if the timeline works a bit on her favor here, but I doubt it. Either way, Hook has always been Neverland’s villain. If Bae was a Lost Boy, then that’s yet another reason he would have been very fond of his mom’s “lover”.

This season of this series sucked big time.

A big affirmative on that! Sucks big big time! I haven’t even bothered watching the last dozen or so episodes. Bring the sheriff back and not put him with Emma? Are they crazy? No romantic angst, forget (un)Charming and Snow, anywhere? I just loved Season 1 and my heart is broken that Season 2 ended my relationship with OUAT.

Last dozen or so? How many did you see?! LOL

        • http://benchpressabear.tumblr.com Joan

Yeah, really slow. The finale is almost here and there has barely been any buildup toward it. I feel we mostly got random character episodes, though we got some brilliant ones like the one where Cora dies. Maybe they shouldn’t have killed Cora that early. Maybe Cora’s defeat should have been the finale. Now our “big bad” is Tamara and Greg. SERIOUSLY?! I can’t even believe I have to put off with their characters to begin with! So much fail.

I thought Emma being “their savior” would mean something more exciting than just breaking the curse. I thought that was going to pan out on Season 2 –war or something, a battle of some sorts– to get back to the Enchanted Forest. But no. Nothing.

I have to this disagree but agree with you at the same time. There wasn’t a war to get back because Emma and Snow already went back into the Enchanted Forest and thought it was dangerous for them to get back since of Ogres and stuff, They need them to go to the Enchanted Forest because of Cora and Hook to get introduced and so when Snow and Emma came back, Hook and Cora would come right after so there would be more drama in Storybrooke. Mulan and Aurora are just a side plot not in the main plot but you can see them again in the season finale “And Straight till Morning”.

For Cora’s defeat yep i have to agree with you to that. I didn’t like that they killed a really good villain. First was Regina and Rumpelstiltskin, then in Season 2 Cora and Hook but after Cora died i kinda thought the show decreased. Tamara and Greg well they are pretty scary if they are trying to get rid of magic.

I have absolutely no care for Tamara and Greg. I’m not invested in their characters (it was too little too late for me) so I don’t see them as a “worthy” threat. Again, I’m not impressed.

As with Snow and Emma wuick return into the Enchanted Forest, I didn’t mean to imply that it didn’t make sense story-wise. It’s more the feeling that –if the writers knew that going back there was going to be part of the current story– now I feel that going there the first time was pointless. It also came at the cost of the excitement and wonder of what’s there

I kind of feel like the shows producers are sought of pushing for the Neal/Emma romance by having someone point it out every five minutes of the show. It’s kind of becoming annoying, I just don’t see them re-kindling it and I believe it should be let go and they shouldn’t keep pushing for it.

I want Emma and Hook, Neal is overrated

I feel all new character this season are sooo overated, hook, neal, and I can’t even remember the others, they all look so pretty but lack character…remind me with the newbies on glee

  • Inez R

I want them to get back together by the series finale

  • Andrea

I still think August and Emma would of been better together. Their relationship was a lot more believable then Emma and Neal’s relationship.

  • STS

The whole show has been silly in season 2…too many family connections, too many layers and characters that some are disconnected (Robin Hood)…some of the actors do not even show back up or often to have some continuity to the plot.

Hook and Emma are much better together.
