The Veronica Mars Movie will see Deputy Leo returning to the force according to Max Greenfield.
In an interview with E! Online, Greenfield revealed that he will be back for the Veronica Mars Movie and will film his scenes this June.
As of today, Veronica Mars series creator and executive producer Rob Thomas has only confirmed that star Kristen Bell and Jason Dohring will be returning in the Kickstarter funded film.
Greenfield now stars on New Girl as the lovable Schmidt and has received accolades for his comedic performance. As Deputy Leo in Veronica Mars, Greenfield played a lovable loyal detective who had a romance with Veronica in the series’ first season.
Greenfield had nothing but praise for the series, saying about the film, “I’m excited! I love all those guys. They gave me one of my first jobs. It was a big break for me and people really liked me on that show. I had such a good time with all of them. I think I’m going down to do a day or two on the movie in June or something, so that should be just great.”
In regards to resuming the romance between Veronica and Deputy Leo, Greenfield did not have much hope for the romance rekindling, stating, “I think there are some other characters you’d like to see her get with, but I’m so thrilled they thought of me and are bringing me back for even the few days I’m working on it.”
In other Veronica Mars Movie casting news, it looks like everyone’s favorite PCHer Weevil (Francis Capra) will be making a return as will. Francis Capra recently tweeted that he will be able to share new Veronica Mars Movie news soon, which we’re guessing means he will confirm his participation in the film.
